What do people around here have against track & feild?

No one hates Track...

What people have grown tired of, is guys like you who are obsessed with Track & think it's the only thing that matters.

It's cool to talk about sometimes, it's relevant in certain contexts, but overall it's not that important, certainly not as important as some of you make it.

Track, run fast, speed, Good... We get it.

I personally would love for most if not all LB's, OL's & DL's to be wrestlers in High School if their school has a team, I think it's great for helping guys develop techniques with hand fighting (disengaging), gaining leverage, learning how to beat a man in a one on one matchup & it also teaches great mental discipline for young guys.

However, it's not something that I'm gonna make a thread about every single day & solely judge players based on if they've wrestled or not.

I know you mean well, and it's good that you & others bring the track stuff to the board, it is appreciated, it's just gotten to a point where it's a little overkill now, that's all.

First off speak for yourself... you aren't the board spokes person. We? Lmao. You don't represent everybody here. I already saw one guy say he'd rather have his guys doing football related stuff instead of wasting time running track.

2. I'm not obsessed with it. he'll some of you are obsessed with complaining about chit. It's off season and spring time. A lot of recruits are running track and posting some outstanding times. Not much else to talk about and I don't these complainers coming with any other topics that don't involve track.

3. I don't think track speed is end all be all. If you can run you can run. Track/40 is a great indicator of this. Speed is just as important and other football related intangibles in div 1 football. Not sure why you're saying it's not that important as the others.

I agree with your comment about wrestling. However, it's not wrestling season and most if not all of Miami's recruits don't wrestle so there's no reason to being it up. Silly example really.

This reminds me of those Charlie Jones on other sites.. We had internet guys crowning the kid cause he ran all over south FL defenses , highlight tape looked good, he's a 5 star, etc etc. I questioned his speed. Didn't seem explosive enough to be a difference make cause at the end of that day that's what you want or at least shoot for. Needless to say his game didn't translate.

I know. It's problematic as I'm driving up to DC right now. That rythematic machine-like pulsating is just captivating.

The rule should be for every track post authored, the poster should be required to start a thread devoted to gifs like this or be banned.

PAR, can you please hit us up with the results from the 2017 Texas Christian Athletic League, Lake Travis Invitational. I don't need the track events, just triple jump and javelin throw. Those are the $$ events.

Could someone explain to me how participating in track and field events makes you a better football player? This isn't sarcasm. I'm curious. Besides the obvious conditioning aspects, what part of a player's game is improved by participating in track meets?

My 2 cents -- I appreciate track and field and like to use it as a means of adding context as to what sort of physical ability certain players/prospects possess. Some on this board take it too far or misunderstand what the times represent. Discussion is often had that is interesting and insightful.

With that said, I just generally take issue with PAR as a poster. I find that he is super aggressive, lacks reading comprehension, creates straw-men to combat others' responses, does not use logic in coming to conclusions, and generally is unwilling to actually engage in any discourse that would recognize anything else to be true other than exactly what he types/thinks.

I'm sure this will be taken well.

The level of track posts is find for the middle of March. Wait until June, you'll all be praying for another track post.

Sprints are not highly relevant to football, unless you're discussing truly elite times. Moreover, anything over 110mH is irrelevant to football speed. If someone isn't running about 10.5 or better in the 100, it's no guarantee that that person is exceptionally fast during a football game. 60m times are much more relevant to football speed, but even they are not an end all, be all, unless you're talking about CJ Spiller/Jacoby Ford kinda speed in the 60m. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, when someone runs a truly elite 60m time, it's all but a guarantee that he can outrun angles on a football field. However, there may be guys slower in the 60 who can also do so - the percentage chance of elite football speed simply increases as the track time decreases. The times I would look for as a "guarantee" of football speed are probably far better times than most on here. You can run a sub 11 100m and not be that fast in a football game - you start slow and have a high top end at 60-80m, and you can run 11...but it's also useless speed on a football field. You could start fast and not have the top end, resulting in 11 - that would be useful in football. The point is, if you're running 10.5 or better, you are fast to start and fast at finish - that translates.

There is a very long thread dedicated to track and field. Not sure what you mean.

Some guys are getting upset when people start talking about track and field or when you're talking about a recruit who happens to run track and you start talking about that.... they get mad or start complaining.

Other's think football players running track is a waste of time cause the should be working on football related things

Some think track and field has nothing to do with football.

Too me that chit is crazy as he'll. Just curious as to why they think that way.

If track and track speed are so important, why doesn't every program just bring in their track athletes to play WR? Track has nothing to do with football.

Speed is speed. Rather someone chooses to use that speed to run a 40, 60, 100 200, 400 etc. it don't matter Miami just had a kid (Brandon Harris) who was an elite 800m runner. If you're elite sprinter you'll run elite times in pretty much all the sprints in 40-400 he'll even 800 if you wanna get in shape for it (Brandon Harris)

You're not really saying anything... I mean you have a guy who runs an elite 60? Ok. you have another guy who runs an elite 200. You trying to tell me he can't out run angles in football game? lmao

Nonetheless, track is relevant to football in that it makes you a better football player. Helps with you're speed. The list of players who use track as part of their football training regime is endless.

I'm talking about football players that run track. Guys like Deon sanders who you said sucked in track. Bottom line is speed is a big part of any football players. There's a reason why a lot of football players run track. You're not an athlete so you don't get it. That's fine.
