I’m just so **** happy, man.
Happy for Mario. Say what you want about the guy, but he is the definition of a Miami Hurricane. Look, nobody is bigger than the program. I don’t care if Jesus H Christ was the coach here, it’s win or GTFO. And Mario has done plenty to earn criticism the past few years. But this dude is US. He’s a Miami kid, through and through, and you cannot love nor appreciate all this program is more than him. It’s been a long 20+ years, and we’re not hanging a banner for what we did today, but it’s just so nice to have real, tangible progress and success. This is a big achievement when you think about how absolutely comical this program has been from the top down for a long, long time. Knowing him, he took about 7 seconds to smile and cheer, and he’s back to work. We have work to do. But I’m happy for him.
But even more, I’m happy for us. **** a committee, a ranking, a game control metric…this is one of the best teams in America. End of story. And I was so depressed thinking the Pitt game was going to be the last time we saw these kids play football here. It’s weird…when you have a REALLY good football team, it’s super rare that the last time you get to watch it, they play their best game, but you don’t win anything. Right? It always ends with a championship, or a loss. But we threw Pitt around like ragdolls, all sat and said to ourselves and friends that **** we got a good team…and then that’s it? Just really weird. So I am so excited we get to watch 4 out there again. And 3. And 61. TRUE CANES WHO CAME HERE WHEN WE SUCKED ***. Maybe it’s just for 1 more game. Who knows? But we get to watch these boys go out there again and show what they got. And they absolutely deserve it. This is a **** good football team. It was really good last year. It’s even better this year. Go show the world what we all know.
Just really happy today, boys and girls. Happy for the staff, happy for the kids, and happy for us.
Go Canes.
