What An Embarrassment for Mike Norvell & FSU

We shouldn't have lost to them. If we brought the house on 4th down we probably win the game right there. Meanwhile, Manny thought it would be smart to basically play a terrible prevent defense with our horrendous secondary. Anything can happen, but they needed a miracle to win.
You are right about the miracle. I am also tired of being on the wrong side of the miracle for the last 18 years. **** needs to change.

So now, look at the current landscape. Miami went from a high 60's class to a top 15 class in two months. UF Made a jump to a top 20 class with FSU right behind it. The vaunted FSU top ten class went from something to nothing very quickly. Mario Cristobal and Billy Napier put together better classes in two months than Norvell did over the two years he's been building this class. You can it to the bank that if Norvell can't beat out Napier head to head, he sure as sh*t isn't beating out Mario.
"They can win the recruiting bake-off in the month of June because that's not signing day"

Manny was right all this time

One of the few things he was right about. Reminds me a lot of the Golden years. They're a program in a really bad place right now. Let's say they go 5-7 again next year (a real possibility). What do they do? They're still paying Willie's buyout, and they'd have to pay Mike's too. We also know they don't have the money to shell out $8 million a year on a new coach, let alone half of that figure, and that's the standard that's expected to hire a big coach nowadays.

FSU is suffering backlash from top recruits because they let the KKK sect of their fan base pressure them into firing Taggart...and the best they can offer recruits is an NIL deal that includes 1 free box of Guthrie's and a pre-loaded EBT card with $25 on it. Anyways, ******* that broke *** school, they deserve it.
That free box of Guthrie's is only valid Monday-Thursday too.

I'm no fan of the Gator, but I wanted to highlight how even they are blowing FSU out of the water. TBD on what Napier does, he could work out. However, the gimmicky stuff he's done (Director of Happiness or whatever other nonsense positions he's created) reek of Al Golden.
Director of Happiness? Is that true? Are you phucking kidding me? You're right. That reeks of Al Golden and his Wefense. Looking back I can't really fathom how we all coped with that. The University of Miami Football Program. The program that brought you Jerome Brown who orchestrated the Fiesta Bowl Steak dinner walkout because he wouldn't eat with the enemy. The program who brought you Ray Lewis, Benny and the Jets, Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, Dan Morgan, Sean Spence, etc. The pregame coin toss vs Oklahoma in the 80's. All of that and that cheap huckster thought it would be a great idea to slap a gimmicky slogan like Wefense on our defense? Those were some dark times my friends.

Sorry to go off on a tangent getting back to uif, anytime you see a coach break out gimmicks like Director of Happiness, Wefense and things of that nature, it's usually because they are covering up for shortcomings elsewhere. Those types of over the top pollyanna pie in the sky type approaches rarely work in the long term. Especially in this game. I'm a bit surprised actually. I was a fan of Napier before he took the uif job and thought he had great potential as a P5 HC but this goofy stuff isn't going to get it done imo and that's a good thing because I want to see uif wallow in mediocrity for as long as possible. We'll see.

Yep, no way to sugarcoat this one, this was a disastrous recruiting cycle for Memphis Mike
Your two biggest in-state competitors for talent both transitioning to new coaching staffs.
This was the year for FSU to clean-up.
Not only did they not clean-up, they finished 3rd.
Pretty inexcusable.
If this was happening to us, this place would be full, Chernobyl meltdown right now.
Don't know how these guys can be keeping the faith.
Just flat-out delusional.

My stepbrother, rest in peace was a diehard FSU fan. After Jimbo left, I warned him; "Matt, you guys had the privilege of two elite coaches spanning 40 years. You're about to find out what we have had to go through after Coker trashed the program." "Oh no Tom, we'll still compete at an elite level."

I tried to tell him, and FSU fans, you need to know this; you guys are going to suffer for awhile. Catching lightning in a bottle is never easy.

Dabo had the slide built in the Clemson facility upgrade. A lot of coaches do these gimmicks. Some coaches are successful, but most aren't - like life in general.

They better hire Deion with in the next few years.. our they about to witness first hand the BS we’ve been dealing with the last 15 years.

They knew they risked losing out on their top ten class if word got out Norvellll was on the hot seat, so they extended him. It completely backfired, they lost almost every good commit they had and now they’re on the hook to pay Memphis Mike for at least one more season. They only managed a top 20 class because they signed a ton of kids. Their final numbers are like 19 three stars and 6 four stars. That’s a blue chip ratio of <33%. This dude makes Al Golden look like a good coach.

It shows how easy it is to recruit in the state of Florida. Miami stunk to high heaven and so did Florida. Mainly on recruiting front. In a matter of 8 weeks for miami and a little more than that for Florida we crack the top 20 in recruiting after being in the high 60’s. And this is whiffing on a couple major targets.

We've had our lucky breaks too. The Duke lateral game, the 2 Langham games, etc. The difference is that FSU had no business beating us last season. We weren't great, but they were awful. I'd gladly sacrifice that game for what we have now though.
