Wesley Mcgriff

Patrick wasn't even fired. A new DC came in. When new coordinators come in they bring a few of their own guys. Patrick wasn't one of his guys so he was let go. That's how it works.

The only remaining Defensive Coach for the Wolfpack besides Gibson is Nickels Coach Aaron Henry. Defensive Coordinator Dave Huxtable and Cornerbacks Coach George Barlow were also previously relieved of their duties.

Gibson runs a 3-3-5 defensive scheme, which is different to the 4-man front Patrick was used to previously.

Knew him well back when he was here under Shannon. Fiery, intimidating, fair, disciplined, and has a lot more experience now. Do it Manny!

Right, McGriff is done at Auburn. I was just responding to OCF's post about Auburn being his "forever home."

I just think it's a funny thing to say, in light of the high rate of turnover in college football coaching. There are a lot of people who retire to SoFla too, but I don't think an assistant coach should be talking about retirement like that.

UNC scored with Mack Brown, so lighting can strike twice. But generally, retreads don't work out well. There have to be other options.

I have some questions for you, and I promise I'm not trying to be an a$$:

But if KP is such an excellent coach, why was he let go from NC State in the first place? Why hasn't a P5 school scooped him up? Why is FAU the best he can do right now?

I'm just trying to understand this situation better.

KP is such a good developmental dline coach consider this, in 2020 he took Evan Anderson a low 3 * offensive guard ranked the 147th OG for the 2020 class and turned him into a freshman all American nose tackle for FAU.

just as an aside to those who believe only Mickey Mouse programs name Co-coordinators in title -- AU just hired two co-dcs. its all over CFB

they did score with brown but got extremely lucky that Howell landed in their laps thanks to FSUs issues late (remember Howell was a LATE flip for a QB). hes done a great job recruiting (which was never an issue for mack). we looked upwards in the beginning of richt but fell apart. I will say, while burnout can be issue for retreads and older coaches, mack had some years away from the game to refresh. in hindsight, that would've been nice for richt

1. NC State is a P5 program.
2. Look what HE'S DONE everywhere he's been, don't look at WHERE he's been.
3. In the coaching world, getting certain positions is often about WHO you know, not WHAT you know. Example - look at our staff. How many of them were sought after by big P5 schools? And look where the **** they're at now...coaching at a 5-time National Championship program cause they knew the right guy.

The best position coaches in the country can be at D2 schools for all we know.
You don't look at WHERE a guy's been, you look at WHAT HE'S DONE at various stops.

You're looking for a CB coach.
If a guy has vastly improved CB play at every school he's been at, improved all the stats, produced all-conference players, coached NFL guys... but those schools happened to be Valdosta State, Temple and Rutgers...you're not gonna pick him over Rumph just because Rumph came from a bigger program?

How can a guy work his way up the ladder with that logic?

this.

it should be its own thread.

Coach Cozza used to say that some of the best coaches he ever met in his 40+ years, were coaching in high school.

And that included three guys he coached with before coming to Yale: Woody Hayes, Ara Parseghian, and Bo Schembechler

Mike Archer is available. LoL. Sure, I would welcome back Crime Dog. He was the only real bright spot when Randy was HC. We can ***** about Diaz but Nix and Walton as your two coordinators on the same staff. Although Enox and Faker are neck and neck. Yikes.

I loved watching Fred "The Crime Dog" Mcgriff when he was with the Braves. That was a great power hitting lineup with Klesko, Jones, Justice and I forget the other HR hitter they had then. Then the pitching.... forget about it.
Dale Murphy..
