What you guys are failing to acknowledge is that Johnny Manziel would never sniff the field here (if he was somehow on the roster right now). ....and that has zero to do with his playing ability.

You’re wrong don’t worry, players at least half want Williams. He plays really good in practice. Don’t think Richt wants to get him killed and lose confidence since our OL blows

Let’s hope this is the case but after watching the first second coming in Perry I don’t have much faith in the Pastor...no pun intended.

I think he is going to claim an open competition this offsesson even if jarren is the guy. Just to keep kosi and cw from transferring.

I have not seen nearly enough of Cade Weldon in a Miami jersey to make an informed opinion of him. In his limited appearance against Savannah State, his first pass literally hit a Savannah defender in the chest and got dropped. He also through a lot of interceptions in high school. Even gunslingers should be able to avoid picks in high school.

Haven’t seen enough of CW to form an opinion but from what I’ve seen of Perry we should be recruiting 2 QBs and say see ya to him.Hopefully Perry shows something more than he has to this point with more game experience

His competition in HS was alot better than N'kosi's and Rosiers was...chk his HS Tape and you'll see...

Can you imagine the Tears if Weldon went into Tally and beat the Noles next yr??...They'd be diving off of Highrises...

If the head coach took a grad transfer, it would be a statement about the other guys.
It would be an even bigger statement about the HC, who is the same guy who took UVA’s garbage (Greyson Lambert) because he couldn’t recruit or develop his own QB.

This is my take on him. I think he’d be starting right now if it wasn’t for his own off field mistakes. I’m not saying he’s in the same talent league but he kind of reminds me of Baker Mayfield but a better runner. He’s a gunslinger and will force some throws but won’t get rattled. From what I’ve heard he has the most respect out of his teammates amongst the QBs

It’s so many underlying truths that continued to be ignored.

That QB situation and offense that got him fired at UbaGA was always a big sticking point with me. You can’t be considered a top offensive coach if you’re scraping UVA’s dumpster for their backup QB when UVA was a 3 win team. His QB recruiting/development was a total disaster, and that’s carried over to his time here.

It’s almost implausible that Rosier, a Folden afterthought, is what he still considers his best chance to win here in year 3. That’s criminal.

Not necessarily, his Senior year he was 3,135yds 19TD's & 11INT's with a 61.2%cmp.
Perry's Senior year he was 1,778yds 24TD's & 4INT's with a 64.6%cmp.

Weldon was hurt his Junior year & didn't play, but Perry was 2,307yds with 32TD's & 2INT's with a 57.4%cmp.
Weldon played his Sophomore year at another school (Berkley Prep), he was 2,103yds 20TD's & 9INT's with 66.5%cmp. Perry didn't start as a Sophomore but played in 4 games.

All in all, in 2 years as a starter Weldon threw for 5,244yds 39TD's & 20INT's, while Perry threw for 5,127yds 64TD's & 13INT's total. Neither one of them were all that great in HS against fairly wecomp even by Florida standards.

The myth of Weldon was built simply because he did well in scout team last year, but in Fall camp this year also had a scrimmage where he threw 5INT's. What does that mean? Not much imo, but the point is Weldon has rarely if ever had much more than a 2nd or 3rd team reps & people talking up his arm as if he's some special secret weapon are setting themselves up for disappointment.

He's played in 1 game his entire career, thrown a grand total of 3 passes & had a nice run vs D2 school in Sav St. Any declarations of what Weldon is just wishful thinking due to how awful both Malik & Perry have been. He's a better runner than both of them, but we have no idea whatsoever what he would be as a starting QB going against ACC talent.

Not to mention, Rix Offense doesn't accentuate a QB's strengths & considering he rarely ever plays his insuffencies would be even more exposed in this system, not hidden. Unless we just switched to a QB option Offense, he would look just as bad as every other QB has looked in this Offense, not better.

Oh & if you look at Perry as a knucklehead for his off the field immaturity, then what would you label Weldon currently serving his 2nd suspension for off the field issues?

well, we do not know why the suspensions have occurred. I do know of many players that were horrible in practice but needed competition to perform. Some players the big lights come on and theirs go out and vice versa...a coach never knows until he gives a kid a chance. I think based on what we've seen...Weldon deserves a shot...period. What have we got to lose based on what we've got. In the same vein I'd bet we have some kids on the team that punted in high school and just might be a whole lot better then what we are fielding....I wonder if they've put out feelers within the team? UnSpecial Teams is killing us as much as QB play.
