Not necessarily, his Senior year he was 3,135yds 19TD's & 11INT's with a 61.2%cmp.
Perry's Senior year he was 1,778yds 24TD's & 4INT's with a 64.6%cmp.
Weldon was hurt his Junior year & didn't play, but Perry was 2,307yds with 32TD's & 2INT's with a 57.4%cmp.
Weldon played his Sophomore year at another school (Berkley Prep), he was 2,103yds 20TD's & 9INT's with 66.5%cmp. Perry didn't start as a Sophomore but played in 4 games.
All in all, in 2 years as a starter Weldon threw for 5,244yds 39TD's & 20INT's, while Perry threw for 5,127yds 64TD's & 13INT's total. Neither one of them were all that great in HS against fairly wecomp even by Florida standards.
The myth of Weldon was built simply because he did well in scout team last year, but in Fall camp this year also had a scrimmage where he threw 5INT's. What does that mean? Not much imo, but the point is Weldon has rarely if ever had much more than a 2nd or 3rd team reps & people talking up his arm as if he's some special secret weapon are setting themselves up for disappointment.
He's played in 1 game his entire career, thrown a grand total of 3 passes & had a nice run vs D2 school in Sav St. Any declarations of what Weldon is just wishful thinking due to how awful both Malik & Perry have been. He's a better runner than both of them, but we have no idea whatsoever what he would be as a starting QB going against ACC talent.
Not to mention, Rix Offense doesn't accentuate a QB's strengths & considering he rarely ever plays his insuffencies would be even more exposed in this system, not hidden. Unless we just switched to a QB option Offense, he would look just as bad as every other QB has looked in this Offense, not better.
Oh & if you look at Perry as a knucklehead for his off the field immaturity, then what would you label Weldon currently serving his 2nd suspension for off the field issues?
