Weldon gets to go “animal house” but other players get dismissed

you guys dont know the situations. his teammates love cade and he doesnt cause dissension in the locker room like jt did. it sucks but thats the truth. would love for him to still be on the team but at this point nothing would change that

After watching 89 blocks I am not surprised at all that JT is gone. Be happy with what we got out of him but that kid is gonna due whatever he wants to do, coaches and teammates be damned. Subornination is not tolarated at any reputable school. This kid will end up at S. Alabama or may never play another down of college football. For all of MR s faults this is not one of them.

Thomas has himself to blame. He is rightfully upset but needs to grow up. You don't get to quit your team in real life and not reap the consequences.

And continually to break the student handbook rules is not quitting on your team? Getting yourself suspended time after time when we could actually need you, is not a form of quitting on your team? Sounds like selfish is as selfish does, to me. Yet, one kid was taken in b/c good ole Richt coached his dad, and he loves his dad so he gets chance after chance, and the other is kicked off b/c he's utterly frustrated and spoke on it. No lie, I would've spoke on it to.

We'll just see him in the league like Tyreke Hill.

The team has put up with multiple suspensions from Weldon and Gerald Willis, yet were still willing to work it out with them. Richt is willing to put up with issues if you're still committed to the team. Neither of them quit on their team like Thomas did, who already had to be convinced to come back once over the summer.

It's not about Richt, it's about Thomas.

@The Svengali - Can you confirm if Weldon ever went on an F-bomb laced tirade at the coaches while in front of other players?

No, but i can confirm Weldon has been suspended 3-4 times for things that seemingly have gotten other players dismissed both at Miami and UGA. Every other guy seems to be held to a hire standard than Weldon.

Weldon Can shoot someone tonight, and Richt will have him over to dinner like ain’t **** happened.

The optics just don’t look right. Call it however you want to call it.

Thomas deserves a second chance. So we leave a man behind because he had a bad day or week? How is that being a “father figure”? We don’t know what’s happening in JTs life to set him off. Could be something personal and serious. Instead, we banish him like he’s trash.

It's now clear as day that some players are given a longer leash than others. This also permeates through the staff given Jon Richt's hire. The Richt era (in terms of seeing long-term success) is over, gents. Fire up the banners.

I think he edited after you quoted him or something because it says Thomas already had to be convinced to come back once. Sounds like he was already on his second chance. And from everything sounds like he quit again and the players decided to not take him back. Not Richt deciding it unilaterally.

Not only do I agree, but I took a look at both the UM student athlete handbook and NCAA guidelines and his coddling of Cade could be Richt's undoing. Weldon's 4 game suspension (after last year's 1 game suspension) means Cade is a repeat offender. If it was for weed, his 1 game suspension would've been his SECOND failed test. Any other drugs and its one game.

But 4 games doesn't fit the UM guidelines for suspensions. Meaning he's failed more than 2 tests. Once someone fails 3 tests a lot of things are supposed to happen. Stuff like community service, contacting family, rehab and possible DISMISSAL FROM THE PROGRAM. NCAA guidelines say if a school has a drug testing policy its rules MUST BE enforced.

Idk if he is protecting Cade or not. No clue. But sweeping multiple failed tests under the rug is a big deal.
the recent 4 game suspension was for his third test for weed per the student-athlete handbook guidelines

Did someone say he has a one year old daughter back in East St. Louis? On top of the academic transition from what has to be a horrible school system back in Illinois, and stress/demands from prime-time football. Odds stacked against this kid before he got here.
