Official Weekly Polls and Rankings Thread

Look, I get that you are educated. So you may be too proud to admit you were wrong. However, please watch the below if you have time.

I just get frustrated when people clamor on the internet about something they have absolutely no clue about.

Pate can be dead wrong at times (who isn’t), but he’s one of the most rational and logical voices in CFB.

You are arguing out of emotion rather than fact and logic.

None of what’s in bold actually happened.

Top five is a stretch. I I will admit because it's on it. Top five is a stretch. I get it. So, Mississippi

So we actually had another voter not rank us?

What it boils down to is the AP needs to stop releasing weekly polls.

They should follow this format:

Release their annual preseason poll like normal.

Release an updated poll after week 4, since a good number of nonconference games are played in the first 4 weeks.

After the week 4 poll, release updated polls every 3 weeks through the rest of the season. This release schedule would put the final regular season poll being released right after rivalry weekend.

Release an updated poll after conference championship games.

Release final poll after bowl season.

Once again, at no point did he actually rank them top 5. At least yet.

You don’t even understand the video you’re referring to. That I posted.

Have a nice day.

If we continue, I’ll probably say something bordering on disrespectful. I’d rather not do that.
And at no point did I ever state that he actually did rank them top 5. You are arguing a point that I never made, and somehow also insisting that I don't understand the source from which I quoted...before you even jumped into the conversation to attack me. It's asinine.

So you can make good on your "threat" and continue to disrespect me with your sexist, denigrating insults, as you have in every single one of your posts, but it truly doesn't bother me whatsoever. I don't know why you continue to die on this hill. I have no idea who you are and don't recall ever even seeing your name before this interaction, but you somehow claim to know me. It's really weird and creepy.

Once again, this is not productive. It is now a conversation filled with emotion and defensiveness.

I disagreed with you. I still do. However, I simply cannot meet you where you are.

No disrespect intended, even though I still believe your opinion was pretty ignorant. It’s not the end of the world. I just shared my opinion.

We clearly don’t agree with one another. That’s actually ok, even on the internet where everyone needs to be “right”.

So no need to defend yourself. You can put the knives away. You win.

Go Canes.

This has taken off recently. Good publicity for our OC. Should be interesting to see if voters’ behaviors change afterwards

How in the world is Ole Miss in the top 10 after giving up 52!!!!? And then also a LSU team they beat. Not to mention a mid Miss St, who's best win is a mid Missouri by 7? Or is it a bad S Carolina by 7? And why is Missouri ranked?? For beating Kansas? Crazy SEC bias. They did the same thing last year to get 5 teams in over an ND team that would have beaten them all. How quickly they forget what happened to all their teams in the playoffs...not a single win except over each other or group of 6. Yet they are at it again.

Dudes still underestimate our conference lol.

Norvell is coaching for his job and it’s a rivalry game. We played FSU tuff even when we were winning multiple less games in that, insert specific year, season than them.

So far, FSU has played Alabama closer than every other team Bama’s played; and FSU was the road team compared to RANKED Kentucky and Mississippi State who got ‘Bama at home.
Wake Forest will be ranked, and Pitt will too. Pitt would’ve gotten a bigger boost, than whatever they end up getting in twelve hours, if their QB didn’t go down for the year.

If FSU beats Louisville, the bolded + underlined fact may make em ranked before they play us. Kentucky hosts LSU; Miss State is on a bye; then travel to LSU October 17th weekend.

Baylor is knocking on the door of being ranked; Arizona should be ranked this upcoming week. How voters deal with UF/Ole Miss/Mizzou/UK/Miss State/LSU should invite some hilarity. Doubt there will be much uniformity; as Boise State/Oregon/Ok State/USC haven’t even gotten worked out properly yet. Minnesota will get some votes but they don’t deserve it. Northwestern should be ranked.

Imo Entering Week 6:
1. Texas
2. Alabama
3. Miami
4. UGA
5. Indiana
6. Notre Dame
7. Ohio St
8. Texas Tech
9. BYU
10. Mississippi St
11. Missouri
12. Florida
13. Ole Miss
14. LSU
15. Oklahoma St
16. Utah
17. Iowa
18. Oregon
19. Houston
20. Minnesota
21. UCLA
22. Wake Forest
23. Pitt
24. Nebraska
25. Tennessee
Next up: Boise St, Duke, Kentucky, Northwestern, Memphis, Wisconsin, SMU

How i would rank em;

1. Texas
2. Miami
3. ND
4. IU
5. Bama
6. OSU
7. UGA
8. UCLA
9. Utah
10. BYU
11. Texas Tech
(This is where it starts to get hard imo; no perfect answers because of who has beaten who; my solution is just depreciating all of em)

12. Arizona
13. Wake Forest
14. Ole Miss
15. LSU
16. Ok State
17. Northwestern
18. Duke (i just don’t believe them yet)
19. Oregon
20. SMU
21. Boise State
22. North Dakota State (i kinda believe them more than duke but the schedule tho….)
23. Baylor
24. Pitt (i’m giving them the Jordan travis—FSU treatment unfortunately)
25. Nebraska (i just don’t believe them yet)

Left out possibly ranked teams: Kentucky, Houston, JMU, USC, Miss State, Mizzou, Iowa, UF, and Tennessee. I know Tennessee + UF beat Auburn, and Baylor did not, but Baylor just looks like a much better football team than Tenn; and i won’t rank UF without Mizzou. Iowa’s Michigan win alreaedy looks worse. Poll inertia is the only reason I’d rank them and I don’t consider them more threatening than multiple 1-loss squads; even some 1-loss squads not on the list like VT

Holding off on ranking JMU but there’s some voodoo at work over there. Someone(s) in their personnel department are cookin. Unfournately, Billy Napier is their head coach. If his name were Nilly Bapier, I’d probably be higher on him. He’s gone on win streaks before. Waiting for @ App State and @ UCONN before I stamp them as special.

Signs of Dominance, defense, playoff project-ability (ask my imaginary quant for the formula) and being undefeated is my criteria. I will fluctuate week to week as much as i please w/ zero shame

Why do you have Ole Miss and LSU at 14 and 15 and MissSt/UF/Missouri unranked? Like Is this based on what you think it'll be at end of year/with projections?

At end of Day UF killed Ole Miss who you have ranked 14 and beat Auburn on the road.... And Auburn beat Baylor who you have 23rd.
Ole Miss barely beat Louisville who already has 3 losses now, only has 1 Win against LSU at home in a pretty emotionally charged (to their benefit) game. And then got killed by UF who they themselves got killed by Missouri...
LSU killed Clemson like we did (except at home instead of road like we had to do), Lost to Ole miss, beat a bad A&M team..... and that's it.

Also Arizona at 12? with a loss to byu as 2nd highest ranked 1 loss team in country?... Giving them quite a lot of credit for the Cinci win there... As far as 1 loss teams go they're not even better than Houston or Baylor in their own conference in terms of resume tbh. Baylor has 1 loss to auburn because they failed to get 2pt conversion to win.

I mean If its by projection I can get it, but not if it's actually current resume based.
