We Should've Hired Les Miles...

Les Miles is better than every Head Coach at Miami put together since Butch Davis
Agreed but that's not really saying much. Let's see how Miles does this year. He clearly benefited from bags and the abundance of local talent.

Well that's when you decide that it isn't worth taking unless you just don't care about the product.

You've made too many mistakes up too that point to concede to a coach that hasn't called plays in a decade and a QB coach that has no exp.

Richt wasn't hitting his stride. His stride hit him and pushed him down the stairs. IMO you don't concede to that. Too many options out there to risk another hire.

Yet they did it.

Yes, looking back the signs were there, so that criticism is fair. What's getting me right now as well as at the point when we became disillusioned with each of our past coaches, is the idea that there was some easy solution. Like just hire a proven guy. Or go get an up and coming guy. Or get the guy who's had success here in the far, far distant past. We've tried several different strategies and all have failed, and there's a simple reason for that. There is no right strategy that's definitely going to work. There's always a large element of chance to this.

All the schools currently having success went through long periods where they couldn't get it right. And what about Texas and Tennessee?

People keep saying just do this or that and it will be fine. If only we'd hired this or that guy or this or that type of guy we'd be killing it.

That's not how it works.

The problem with the Richt hire was more on the Admin letting him hire his son and him thinking he could still be a competent OC. Had he hired a real OC/QB coach. Would've made a huge difference.

Not sold on Butch either.

At the end of the day. This program is cheap and the results of the hires show that. You can't win spending pennies in a market that demands gold bars.

This Admin/AD think they're the smartest people in any room and trust their instincts despite all evidence.

They saw the name Mark Richt and he had them at hello. They spent no time inquiring to those closer to his situation at Georgia about any of his deficiencies or missteps.

There was no effort made to learn his philosophy on offense, or why despite being a separate job at most programs, he felt at this point in his career it made sense for him to start calling plays again. Heck, when the media asked, he said he was "rusty" himself.

He was available, he was from the SEC, he was a name and he was given full autonomy and command, no questions asked.

I think we need a guy like mark stoops just to come in and build the momentum and string together 10 win seasons in a row.

bro, in a couple years butch was turning out 1st and 2nd round pics at UNC. look at their record before he got ther.

that dudes knows so fla. we had the momentum of the u part 2. people dont forgot how many lives that guy changed with the amount of guys he put into the NFL.
And never won the ACC coastal with all those pics. Isn’t that this birds very definition of Corch?

Yet he never won more than 8 games.

no it hasnt. the right hire can fix in a couple recruiting classes. Mario can recruit at that level. I think Mark stoops would do VERY well here too.

Mark Stoops is happy in Kentucky. No demands for a National Title and tons of money too.

Mark Richt won 10 games and got Miami #2 in the nation. Then we found out why he got let go at UGA. Les Miles will be the same way

It probably is broken to the point we won't get back.

Manny needed a lot of funds to surround himself with top shelf asst. That wasn't supplied or he made a boo boo and kept the HS staff by choice but it looks grim.

I don’t consider Dan Enos a bargain basement hire. People are judging him in hindsight. You don’t get hindsight when you hire people.

No we wouldn’t. The problem with the BBB crew is that you all think he is some kid of coaching gods. Coaching god don’t get smashed with s Fl talent in year three by tulane. But I mean what else should 1 expect from a coach who has 1 big east title to his credit in career. He’s a failed *** coach. Get over it
im not saying this as speculation alot of coaches in So Fla would have pushed top kids to play for butch. thats a fact. He's a universally respected developer of talent.

People need to commit this post to memory. The “It’s not that hard” chant is old and tired and proven wrong. BBB won’t fix it. Nor will replacing coaches or admins. We are on our second President, fourth AD and fifth head coach. It’s the culture and fans need to look in themselves and ask if the only thing bringing them to games is winning and the hopes of a National Title. If it is, you are going to be disappointed each and every year.

Please let us know how it’s a fact. You try to talk in absolutes but have no idea. Butch doesn’t get any of the players we missed out on and we’d have the same type of records with butch. That’s about the only fact, we’d have similar records with Butch
