We might still be ok at linebacker as long as nobody gets hurt.

If everyone stays put then Diaz can also get creative and use Jaquan as the nickel and only have two LBs on the field most of the time.

Grace out equates to 3 losses? Sorry but I completely disagree that one guy (like grace) has that much of an impact. If we are as good upfront as I think we should be, the effect should be minor imo

It wasnt based upon Grace being out. It was based upon 3 true freshman starting ag linebacker and i completely agree. Its worth 2-3 L'S for sure.

I agree worst case it will not be 3 true freshmen starting ... maybe only 1... right now its Grace Gordiner and Shaq..Mike is nursing a hammy...and they are teying to hold Darrion back as long as possible

Lmfao, Carter has barely improved at SS in 4 years and you guys think he's going to pick up LB in 3 weeks? Mccloud, Gordinier, T Harris, and Smith will play there before him. I'm not saying carter couldn't play LB it's just way too late to switch him.

The reason I think he can do it is because according to Grace/Diaz that SAM position is pretty much a safety anyways.

Grace was covering guys 1-1 and moving around a lot. Not your typical 4-3 SLB.

I'm not an X's and O's guy, but isn't the allure of Jermaine Grace that he's already kind of a hybrid LB/Nickel that gives us more flexibility to run a pseudo-nickel from a 4-3 base? I've never seen Jamal Carter play OLB, but I imagine he would be pretty good at covering TEs. Would he do well against a speedy slot guy too or would that not be his responsibility?

This is interesting. Not to knock the OP, but if you know, that means Richt for sure knows. Why would Grace be practicing? If he is being suspended indefinitely, would he still be able to practice? I don't remember how all that works
