We just got a lil thinner

Not going to lie... The compliance staff would have turned the cheek if this happened at a school like sec or fsu, Miami trying to be mr goody two shoes is going to end up affecting us again

So in other words, the compliance office were doing their **** job. The job of the compliance office is to protect the interests of the athletic department. We all know that the playing field isn't level, schools like Miami are always under a microscope. Therefore, things like this can't be swept under the rug, because the NCAA is waiting for ANYTHING remotely resembling a cover up. I have no sympathy for people like Jermaine, they were all told things they can't do, and if there's any doubt, to ASK SOMEONE. You do dirt and get caught, you're on your own. Here's an idea, LEASE A **** CAR. Hundreds, if not thousands of student athletes do that, and as long as it's not a crazy nice car, you'll get away with it.

You don't think Alabama is under a microscope? FSU? The difference is, those schools fight for their players.

Richt has every right to be livid. You can't expect him to win championships and then tie his hands behind his back. This is a FOOTBALL issue, the university should keep its damned nose out of it. Let the coach punish the kids as he sees fit.

Sick of this university trying to be Notre Dame.

Fundamental difference between Miami, FSU and Alabama. FSU and Alabama, even when they do dirt, the NCAA bends over backwards to make sure they get the benefit of the doubt. Jimbo and the FSU administration may have covered up a rape in order to keep Jammie on the field. Alabama has consistently broken rules, and even when they are busted, manage to get a slap on the wrist. The repeat violators rule was made for programs like Alabama, and Auburn, yet they manage to skate more often than not. Ole Miss has players who ADMITTED to taking money, with proof that coaches were involved, nothing. One rogue Miami booster(Who happened to run a ponzi scheme) admits that he gave kids some pocket change, hooked them up with bottle service at clubs and the NCAA was willing to break every rule in the rulebook to get Miami. Think that over, that's how the playing field is tilted. Contrary to popular belief, the compliance office isn't out to get people, they are there to protect the athletic department. Miami can't afford to cover up stuff like this, it's on the student-athlete to not be a moron. This program isn't 100% clean, no program is, but when big time stuff comes up, that is a matter of public record, the compliance office has no choice but to do their jobs. This isn't Alabama, this isn't Auburn, and it never will be. Those who expect that kind of athletic department are shortsighted, because they don't realize that Miami can't pull that off and survive. SMU did that once, how did that work out for them? USC had that going for a while, how did that turn out? Private schools in large cities can't operate like the schools in the boonies.

And look how that worked out...we skated and almost took the NCAA down. You gotta fight for your own, not roll over. About the only good thing Shalala ever did was she put up a fight with the NCAA.

It took the NCAA botching the investigation to a level that was unprecedented. Are you sure that you want to use that as proof of anything? Never mind that the investigation happened in the first place. Oklahoma State was accused of far more than Miami, the NCAA didn't say nor do anything. I'll never understand how anyone who cares about the program would encourage looking the other way, knowing full well that the NCAA is out to get Miami. The U is on probation, in other words, one bad move and Miami could possibly be looking at some serious problems. Remember, you don't want to give the NCAA reason to start sniffing around, so you have to at least give the impression that the compliance department is on the job. I don't think that Grace will be suspended for the entire season, unless the NCAA mandates as much, but until he's cleared, he's going to sit. That's rational, that's how well run athletic departments that are on probation handle eligibility issues. This wouldn't be a problem if Jermaine had exercised some common sense. If he had questions about whether this was legal, he should have gone to compliance. You have to protect yourself, and the program. Jermaine failed at that, and it's safe to say that Richt and Co. are disappointed. I hope he didn't add to it by lying, but with the information at hand, who knows.

We'll just have to score more points.

Honestly moving Carter to olb might be the next step to take unless mccloud is ready to take that spot or Darrion Owens is back. I honestly thought AQM was more in jeopardy to be more in trouble than grace so I guess that's a blessing

Nah. Quan & corn are ok cause they have all their receipts. Jermaine & juwon had none. Jermaine actually took this **** a step or TWO farther but I can't explain this.

They did it to us to help other schools cherry pick talent from down here. I'll go to my grave believing that. Why else take so long, and go the extra mile to try to bury us? Yes, it worked out for us in the end because public perception had shifted BIG TIME. After darn near 3 years people were starting to question why exactly the NCAA was taking so long. It had to go away, for their sake.

Do you think we'll let him transfer in conference? How sad would it be if this kid ended up at FSU.

For real, our compliance people are NOT helping once again if this is true. Richt must be furious that he is getting zero support from the university. Different coach, same old crap from the university sticking it's nose where it don't belong.

You know the university isn't thinking about Grace or what's in his interest. It's all about THEIR image and covering THEIR asses.

I don't blame Richt for this at all. This is on the university 100 percent.

I'd rather kick off Grace then deal with a sledgehammer of NCAA sanctions again... Also quit that bs sayin he's transferring to FSU...

You guys aren't listening. He's not being kicked off the team like that... What's going on with him deals with eligibility. He's gonna be suspended indefinitely. Than were gonna have to petition the ncaa. That's why it might possibly be half the season

Regardless of what your opinion is Grace is built for a 4-3 not hte bullshyt we ran last year...The Drop off from grace to Mccray is lke this

tumblr_mzz6p6dY9w1rzik3go1_500.gif
Grace could be a nice player and have an NFL career butif he ****ed up and we have to give him the boot he'll only have himself to blame for the rest of his life. He's not going to be the difference in multiple wins and losses this year.

Leading Tackler on the team irv

Top 3 players on defense I would say we couldnt lose were Elder, Grace, AQM

It's gonna hurt somewhat to lose him but buddy is right in my opinion. He won't be the difference in multiple wins & losses. We look alot better on d than yall realize. My only concern after seeing how dominant our dline is would be does our offensive line really suck *** or is our dline gonna be amazing! It's not even too competitive right now to be honest.

Muhammad in the clear though right?

At worst Quan will be suspended for the first game. Honestly I doubt anything happens to Quan cause he's got receipts.

Zach McCloud. We'd roll 3 true freshman LBs out to start.
That experience will pay off.

I'm down bartow said he has been delivering the biggest hits in practice according to his sources. Here's what he said...

"Freshman Zach McCloud delivered the most violent hits among this young group. The cerebral backer with readymade size (6-3, 230) flips the switch on when the pads come on. He’s opened eyes already. Shaquille Quartermann has been the group’s most consistent guy thus far, the projected starter in the middle."

Was talking bout that today. Zach is getting known as a headhunter. He's gotta pick up the system better though.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our linebackers corps about to take a hit. Jermaine is probably off this team. If not he definitely is gonna miss a large part of the season. Everyone else Gucci but aqm might miss first game. Well be fine. Mcray is getting alot of burn as well as Gardiner. We shall overcome my dudes. Stay positive

When you say that, who are you talking about besides AQM?

There was 5 players involved in this. Juwon, corn, jermaine, stacy & quan

If Tunsil can stay on Ole Miss, then Grace can stay on our team! Suspend him for September

NCAA watches over us like a hawk, unlike the SEC

I hate to say it but none of this came from the ncaa. This was all from compliance. Dude on top hates athletes

Is it that Craig Anderson dude?

If so, I'm going to give that fat prick a call and I'd encourage everyone else to do the same. At every other school in the NCAA, compliance works to keep kids eligible. Here, they are out for blood. F that whole department

My understanding is that this went in front of some university student disciplinary council. Bunch of professors and snotty kids who don't even like football

So not even Richt's call. That is ridiculous.

They're trying to make us Duke football with Miami academics.

LOL, I think you're referring to the Honor Council, which (as a former member of) I know has nothing to do with these matters.

This is an athletics compliance issue, not a student conduct issue, Mr. non-alum.

Props to OP if he is right but if Grace isn't kicked off the team, **** OP. To put out hurtful information about Grace, before it's confirmed is just bad form, especially from someone who claims that he actually played ball here

You put together a perfectly legible sentence here. So clearly youre intelligent to a certain extent. Please go back & remember read the statement I made. This is a matter of eligibility... if he loses his eligibility he will no longer be allowed to play. All I'm stating is HE IS GONNA BE SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY... past that well be able to petition the ncaa & see if we can get him reinstated. Again look at the context & understand what's being said. The suspension is the only thing that is certain as of now & that'll be indefinite... as we've all seen with those suspensions, things can be fluid. **** changes. So it's still possible we get him back. But at that point it's out of our hands cause this is being sent to the ncaa. I love Jermaine. But I love my school far more than him & he ****ed up more than yall know. So sit back & see how it plays out.

Word, I'm just ****ed at the situation. Even if Grace did ***** up, our school seems to bend over backwards to make student-athletes suffer. When kids at SEC schools are openly getting paid and driving $50,000 cars, and kids at UF and Baylor have school admins help cover-up rape, it's ridiculous Grace could lose his season over this.

I'd be fine with a 3-4 game suspension, but I doubt we get that lucky

This is exactly the procedure followed by every school. You report it and suspend until you get word back from the NCAA. I think Richt even had to deal with this with AJ Green. No way Grace gets handed a full year suspension. The problem lies with how fast (or slow) the NCAA moves.

We get it, you're an alum and you think significantly less of non-alum Miami football fans.

Now shut the **** up about it.

So, any Grad transfer LB's on the market we can pickup in the next two weeks?

The bottom line here is that someone, McCloud, Owens or whoever need to be getting his reps starting yesterday. Diaz needs to find out who is best suited to play Graces role and coach him the fack up. With any kind of luck, the NCAA doesn't drag it's feet and Grace gets reinstated after a 3-4 game suspension.

What's done is done. We need to move forward immediately and make the best of the situation as much as it phucking sucks. Someone needs to be a leader, step up to the plate and get it done.

I don't really give a **** to be honest. Grace is an average player on a **** defense.

Regardless of what your opinion is Grace is built for a 4-3 not hte bullshyt we ran last year...The Drop off from grace to Mccray is lke this

Grace is EXACTLY the type of player to make the difference in wins and losses. He is definitely an X-factor and a major key to this defense. Anyonevacting like this isnt a huge blow is delusional.

Still his fault.
... but ****, we need him.

Please tell me the coaches aren't serious about using McCray to fill Graces spot. Surely we have better options. I'll roll with the true freshman McCloud before I throw McCray out there.
