I think many of you are completely overstating the issue. Including Andrew.

A few vocal fans aren’t swaying the decision making of the people who run a university. Just chill out for a few days and let people have some time to do their jobs diligently and thoroughly. And remember that no matter what happens, you always have the choice to not support a college athletic program. You can choose not to attend games or watch them on TV. And based on the panicked replies to this thread by some of our posters, it may do you well.

Do I need to re-start the thread on the positive of cheering for a mediocre program?

The fans want a change in decision making by the board of trustees. The idea that those members will completely ignore the voice of the fans isn't rational. Companies invest millions of dollars to capture the voice of their customers. People are swayed until they're swayed and you can't predict what ultimately influences someone.
