We have reached the critical point

There are some alumni who really feel that Manny can hire a top notch OC and DC this upcoming off-season and right the ship...

True. You know how I feel about false myths, and someone needs to debunk this myth with the BOT. Manny's OC/DC hires have largely been disasters (Lashlee has had a good half-season since we opened 2-4), and there is no way in **** that Manny will be able to hire a great OC and a great DC (a) in this current coaching shortage, and (b) as the guy who will open up as a pre-season #1 on the Hot Seat rankings.

Make our voices heard and say what?

Exactly?

Hurry up and hire an AD? You mean like we did when we hired Manny.

Ok, then who? Who is it that was supposed to be advocating for, specifically? Other than making sure that Manny is relieved of his duties? Because that I can get behind although I think he’s history anyway.

What else is it that we’re supposed to be advocating for? A quick decision for athletic director?

Come on, man, you know the answer to this.

Doesn't have to be a "timing" call or a "one particular guy" call.

Urge the powers-that-be to hire a STRONG AD who has BEEN AN AD ALREADY. Plenty of those candidates are available.

Urge the powers-that-be to NOT hire someone who is a current AAD with prior Miami connections.

We need an Alpha AD, not another Beta Blake.

Simple stuff.

You're kidding me right?

What’s the message?

What’s the actual message? Launch a campaign without having an actual specific message? You have to be kidding me.

Hire a strong AD, not a former UM AAD.

Can't make it any simpler.

They know which candidates fit which description. Doesn't need to have names/birthdates/socials level of specificity.

So your Andrews mouthpiece now? Are you sure that’s what he meant?

Want to hear the names, the specific message. Don’t hire this guy but hire that guy. Who are they? Generalized messages are extremely ineffective.

"You have said you are willing to spend, so hire a top 10 AD. An AD that has hired winning coaches, built programs, etc".

Andrew's mouthpiece? WTF?

Again, "names" are not the issue. If you encourage people to give "names", then you will have 50% of the people screaming Mario, 30% of the people screaming Lane, and the other 20% calling out random names from Knute Rockne to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Hiring ONE PARTICULAR GUY is not the message. There are multiple candidates who would fit the bill at AD and HC.

The REAL issue is NOT to pick another underqualified untalented AD, and NOT to retain Manny.

You keep redefining the "question" and then acting as if an answer has not been provided. If you don't want to participate, fine, step aside and let those who are passionate about UM making a substantive change in the type of AD we hire...communicate these feelings to the BOT.

Anyone who is confused or indifferent or uninterested on who our next AD should be...is welcome to join the new Athletic Director's Club in order to get to know Tony Hernandez better. I'm sure he has an amazing vision for what he can accomplish at UM, and it probably involves better locker rooms and hiring a couple of extra analysts.

He ruined King, ruined Bolden, and **** near ruined Stevenson

Be aware, Manny Sr. sure isn't allowing his allies in the press print anything negative about his kid.
Someone needs to snitch if that's true

It sure won't be the Herald. They have the backs of the Diaz family. I don't know who runs The Athletic but it would have to come from place like that.

No, Frenk reports to the BOT.
Governance at private universities can work in many ways. Typically, the BOT does things like set strategy and track performance relative to targets they set but the President actually makes decisions on a daily basis & implements them together with his team. To show you how much power Presidents have, some have even taken drastic steps like unilaterally deciding to reduce the size of the BOT in half (if they were too large & ineffective as a result).

Yes, President Frenk is trying to build support for his key decisions with BOT members (for obvious reasons) but he does not have to. He can exercise "Executive Privilege" and make whatever personnel decisions he wants. The BOT does NOT have de facto authority over hiring & firing decisions in a private university. The President does.

He needs approval of the board to spend over x dollars on salary. I don't know what that number is but I know it's less than a quality A.D. or head football coach would make.
