We F^*ked

In my honest opinion, I believe if shalala didn't have James by the balls during her tenure he would have fired him. I don't think James is the guy to point fingers at here I think it is all in Shalala's court. I might be wrong but My family and I are connected at the U and I would say If Frenk allows James to do what he has to do as an AD improvement will be shown starting with Golden I believe

If you'd ever seen Flake James' wife you'd know that he doesn't make any decisions. Ever.

That's a ****ing dude. Or use to be a dude.

James looks like he plays for the other team. Wouldn't surprise me if that is why Shalala placed him there.

..and that has to do with football how?

### A high-ranking UM official who has spent time with new UM president Julio Frenk said he doubts Frenk will inject himself into decisions regarding the future of Al Golden if next season is disappointing and Frenk likely will defer to what athletic director Blake James believes is best.

Weeeeeeeeee!

Just shut down the fcking program already.

Just leave already. If you want it shut down, just go away and stop pretending to be a fan. This program isn't going anywhere like it or not.

Good, a school president shouldn't be making decisions in hiring our coaches. The dyke inserted herself into ever decision and obviously failed with every one. Blake James is a bozo, but if you're going to pay an AD, let him do his job.

Golden's ridiculous contract is through 2020...I doubt the Admin wants to fork over more money then they have to so I assume they will ride it out for at least another year or two.

did anyone really expect a doctor from mexico via harvard was going to give a rats *** about (american) football. i am not saying this is a bad thing. the problem is nobody has any confidence in the AD. if the AD wants to win he has to make a move after next season.

Blake James is the least qualified athletic director in the country.

He was promoted out of the ticket office as a placeholder when Eichorst left us high and dry.

After hiring two terrible AD's (Hocutt and Eichorst), the light went on for Donna that she would be better off with a "yes" man like Blake who has no market value and will never leave.

If Frenk is going to stay out of it, this is going to fall back on the board of trustees.

Amen! The Athletic Director should run the Athletic Department--what a concept.

It's not about the president ...

Shalala worked for the BOT ... Frenk works for the BOT ... The BOT will make the call on Golden.

Now, the BOT should make the call based on input from the AD. And I share the concerns about our current AD's ability to do the job, and specifically, the following 2 things:

1. Make the firing decision
2. More importantly, make the next hiring decision

But the drama about the president's position on the football program is overblown, IMO.

The UAB president didn't shut down their football program ... Their BOT/BOD make that call. He just implemented the shutdown, and has taken all the grief.

Will say it again. THEY"RE GONNA SHUT DOWN THE PROGRAM within the next 5 years. No interest in having it be competitive.

Overdramatize much?

Wait and see: They almost did it when I went there, but gave it one last shot with Howard, who turned out to be a genius. He rescued Miami football and brought in a much needed source of revenue which the school used on everything else but the program. Do you think some clown like Golden will make us relevant again? Best thing we can hope for is that Golden leaves for another smaller program and we luck into a competent young coach. (This bunch will never bring back Butch because the BOT wusses still have their panties in a bunch over the way he left after they tried to cheat him on a new contract.)

I'm not holding my breath on us lucking into any decent coaches. They'll just hire another coordinator like Coley because he'll be the cheapest and easiest thing to do. Then the program will just lose more money and give them an excuse to shut it down UAB style.

UAB was trash, the U back then was one of the worst teams in college, the teams success is what put the school on the map, they arent shutting it down

More melodrama. Stick with soap operas, that seems to be more your speed. Even if we never get back to being "elite", there is virtually no chance of the program being shut down in 20 years, much less 5.

IT sounds like Frenk will merely adhere to a hierarchical structure in which he will hold Blake James accountable if AL golden fails this year and blake doesn't fire him. Then the following year they are both gone I would surmise. Then Frenk can bring in his own AD & own football HC.

But hopefully Golden can get things turned around an win the ACC at least this year.

Go Canes

Frenk will let James make the decision. If we **** the bed this year then James will have complete control of whether to fire golden and whom to hire. Problem, James is a clown so he will probably seek counsel from some BOT members and we've seen their record for hiring coaches. Once James makes the hire he will live or die by the new coach. We are looking at a minimum of 4 years before James is potentially fired.

So our best hope is for James to miraculously make a home run hire.

Yep. I see James going the lazy route and hiring Mario Cristobal if he fires golden at the end of this season and that's a very big if.

And THAT is why Butch is the #1 choice by far. Done done it. Here.
