We better have a Top 10 defensive backfield this year

yeah I’m definitely not a troll, try again. And I’m Laughing Out Loud hysterically that you think Gurvan and Ivey won’t be in the two deep.
You reading comprehension skills are lacking..when did I say u were a troll?? When did I say gurvan and ivey wouldn’t be in the 2-deep lol

He started the bowl game.

It's only February, but all of the projections are from each team's 247 site.
If we could keep most of those type players it is a double win. We have the best talent and our opponents have much less. You mentioned 9 guys over three teams. We keep 5 of those nine and those three teams have to share the other four. Spread them out and all are weaker: let one have 3 or 4 and we only have one to beat on the field.

I feel like with a now fast pace Offense, the Defensive stats are going to dip. Due to the fact they’ll be on the field a lot more, although (fingers crossed) won’t be defending a short field as often, like last season.

Lets hope our DL has a great season as we’re aspecting, or that back field is in for a really long season.
Why would the defensive stats dip? I don't get that. If we go from an offense that couldn't put up points keeping the defense on the field, to an offense that scores 30 plus a game, why would the defensive stats be worse?

To me, it's about the amount of snaps the defense has to play. Since we were so bad on offense last year, our defense was on the field way too much. Now, if we score so many points quickly that our defense has to keep going back on the field, I believe the defensive snaps would be about the same as last year at worst.

Secondly, if our offense is putting up 30+ per game, opposing offenses will have to throw the ball more in predictable situations where our pass rush should feast. The secondary is going to have plenty of opportunities to make plays. The only question is: can they make them?

So, the bottom line is that teams are going to have to throw more to keep pace with our scoring. Sacks totals should go thru the roof. Again, the secondary will have ample opportunities to get interceptions or give up touchdowns. That will be the deciding factor whether this defense is elite or mediocre.

It makes me question the evaluations inside the building then. In the games i've seen, he's had mental lapses, technique lapses and lacks the speed to stay with receivers once he makes those mistakes. He made a few INTs but in terms of upside i see others on the roster with a higher physical ceiling.

I just hope Ivey keeps his head on straight, learns from last year, works hard and becomes a solid, consistent contributor.

I felt Blades was the best cover guy last year, even though his tackling was well below average at times. He was consistently in the hip pocket of WRs.
Hopefully all thos DBs make a leap in improvement given the experience they got last year. I expect the young bucks to push them for playing time. I think we'll see a big difference this year.

LMAO..Huge lol..idek what dude talking about..was gonna say troll but he been around since ‘13...we just have football dummies in our fanbase
What games were you watching? I saw Hall miss a ton of tackles. give up a 4th and 17 and then give up a touchdown two plays later. He certainly didn't live up to the hype he had coming in. And if you think Ivey is good I dunno what to tell you. He wouldn't have seen the field for me after he let that guy run by him on punt safe coverage. I also saw him do the same thing on an obvious hail mary play where he let his guy run right by him. So what games were you watching that those guys were elite in? and dont point out the ints where the ball was thrown right 2 him when I half decent pass would have been an easy completion.

When did I say either we’re elite last year? When did hall give up a 4-17..that was bandy last blown coverage..your talking about 2 first year starter and are nick picking a couple low moments. Ivey vs GT was a mental mistake ..Hall didn’t miss a ton of tackle..he was solid and showed some elite qualities from a physical standpoint..Mentally you will a jump in his and ivey game

I said I thought they weren't and you said I might be a troll. Nitpicking a couple of low moments? pfff.. low moments that cost Miami wins? yeah I'm pointing those mistakes out. You need to go back and watch better. Hall missed a lot of tackles and Ivey is NOT a good cover corner. Either those two get a lot better or they can sit the bench while I find out if somebody else wants to cover his man in a fake punt situation.

U also said you hope hall and ivey get benched by younger players lol..as tho the young mistakes Hall and ivey made this year magically wont appear with another crop of first year guys..those two will be better..u talking as if they aren’t Miami or P5 caliber

Of the 9 players mentioned in the OP, how much do you think the total bag sizes were? On field performance aside, it definitely played a factor for most of those guys leaving

They both need to play a lot better.. or hopefully somebody else shows up that can. The whole team needs to play to a higher standard but those are two that matter in this thread. If they are gonna continue on the path they set last year I'd rather see what someone else can do.

We all agreed we need to be better. It seems like you were seemingly writing off those 2 as tho they were scrubs..talking about them like they were AJ highsmith jr and Nate dortch

D money smoking the Payotee again..

Stars don’t mean ****. Iveys Hs film was mediocre and he was slow. Same can be said others as well. Amari Carter killed a few guys but can’t do much else.

The evaluation of prospects is pure trash. The defensive staff has zero clue what they are looking for.

Anyone know how Divaad Wilson looks at Georgia? Could never make up my mind on him as a prospect out of HS. Thanks.

And on the topic, Amari Carter and Gurvan Hall combo is so iffy.
