13 years of misery makes people quite irrational. This same 8-5 team last year lost 2 starting WR (Coley and Richards are literally all we have and every team knows it), has a terrible line and is without their RT (not sure that matters much) has an injured/lack of pocket presence QB... Did we forget how bad we were offensively last year too??? Well here is a reality check, we only averaged 27.8 ppg last year and are sitting at 32.9 ppg this year. Yes that number is inflated with the FAMU game, but still, not any better. Could Richt be calling better plays? Maybe he is just instilling his game plan and realizes just how little he has on offense that it's not going to work well. Hence, the clusterf&ck we have now!

On defense, we lost our TOP THREE leading tacklers, Bush and Burns and lots of depth (no fillers like Kamalu, McCord, Heurtelou,Kirby, etc. yet somehow we are supposed beat everyone. This side is the most improved as we all see, but when we lost a few people And we play 6 freshmen at once games like VT happen. No depth does that!

The same people that expected better from this coaching staff are saying "let's give him 1 more year and his own recruiting class to really see." So basically when we are starting 2-3 FRESHMEN LINEMAN, that will help us decide?! This is definitely a project, and like it or not, we aren't going to see anything for AT LEAST 2 years! I hope he turns it around because this is a disaster!

Many experts, had us as a 4-5 win team and we were outraged. Well... maybe that's the reason they are experts and we are fans.

Go ahead, neg away to make yourself feel better, but it is what it is! We are the team with ~60 players and have Malcolm Lewis and Berrios Returning kicks because of the lack of depth!

Sincerely,

One of those delusion in denial fans.

Man if we don't demand the best then we not Miami fans, we been like that Miami get there swag from us str8 up. There's no reason why we shouldn't at least be competitive we have over 100 d1 players in sofla alone the numbers don't add up.

We lost 3 games by 11 total points and now we're not competitive? You can demand something all you want that doesn't mean you deserve it or earned it.

good point. that said **** near every team in the ACC has won 10 games since we joined except us and the other bottom feeders.

Just because we have been down doesn't mean we should lower our expectations. You make many great points, but this is the U. I still expect us to win every game.

No doubt! I'm just referring to the reality of what we have now and where we are headed. Keep your fingers crossed, pray, whatever that our coach is the one to finally turn this around and hopefully it's faster than it should be.

Can we stop with all the talk about the number of athletes that come out of South Florida.
That number gets skewed when you look at where they go to school. Just because a kid signs D1 doesn't mean he's a D1 star. Throw in the number that will never have the grades to get into Miami and the others that never pan out the number of elite athletes is not nearly as great as it's made out to be.
Does the area produce some great athletes, sure, but it's very watered down to what it once was.

As Larry Coker so eloquently stated, our expectations are out of kilter.

Let's see if we can get this scrappy group of overachievers bowl eligible! Get me 2 more wins and a ticket to El Paso!

Just stop.

These posts are pathetic. We should be at worst 7-1 right now. Richt has been an unmitigated disaster.

The one stat from last year that saved the season (saved ,as in 8 wins) was the turnover margin of nearly +1 per game, the best of any Canes team in a long while (I looked back to 2008). It made a very avr team look better than they were.

You can argue that good teams tend to have good turnover margin but this year Clemson and Louisville are both negative for the year and each are tied with a ranking of 73rd in the nation. Last year ,Clem made it to the championship game ranked # 83 in T.O. margin.

So last year ,we were 10th best in the nation in T.O. margin and still managed just 8 wins with one extra possession every game.

Miracle at Duke
OT at Neb and +2 T.O.
+4 T.O vs VT
+2 T.O. vs Pitt in a close game
+4 T.O. vs GT and Justin Thomas gets hurt in 1st Q
We could have easily been a 3 win team, Yeap,we were that bad !

But recruiting wise we have seen a major improvement thus far. In the short period of time last season with a small class we are seeing great returns. So far, even though no one has signed on the dotted line, 2017 looks great. Larry Coker has proven with talent almost any coach can win. If you build it wins will come.

BTW, Richt has been bad, but if execution was better that would be an after thought. He hasn't been nearly as bad as our OL and lack of discipline!!!! An no I am not making excuses just stating the truth.

Vegas had us at a 7 win team. Why did people expect us to be world beaters? We are a blocked extra point from going into overtime and most likely beating FSPoo, a bad TD call against UNC from winning that game and a fumble recovery to give us a shot at beating ND in OT if not a scoop and score for the win in regulation. Putting us at 7-1 or 6-2 at best. Beating 3.5 cupcakes the way you should beat them made everyone drink koolaide just a little to soon. This team had major holes and flaws but we creamed our pants like a senior on prom night just a little to early.

We are getting destroyed in recruiting with The Nicktator, Meyer, Fisher and others gobbling up So Fla. We have really been MIA in more ways than 1 and it has caught up with us. Look at the 5 star players in SoFl this year. 1 is going to FSU, 2 are going to Ohio State and 2 with The Nicktator. Miami has zero 5s committed even though the class is deep with 4s. How many Amari Coopers and Dalvin Cooks must we lose to see just how far we have fallen?

Amazing Dr. Kevin Elko who helped Butch build a dynasty here is now with the Nicktator and a dynasty has already been built there. How do we lose Moffitt and wind up with Swasey?

Alumni and fans just thought because we were Miami more Ed Reeds, Dan Morgans and Andre Johnsons would come through the door. We failed to hold the administration and BOTs accountable and they failed all of us miserably. I say we get a refund for 12-13 years of total incompetitence. How Shalala kept her job after the Nevin fiasco still boggles my mind.

Takes more than a year to clean up 13 years of ineptitude.

Maybe if everyone faced reality and had no high expectations, you wouldnt be in denial now

Are you even watching the games .... we look like a Div II offense.
We will be lucky to win 2 more games!!

I also lowered my expectations of monogamy with my wife. It's helped tremendously. When I walk in the house and see the pool boy and the lawn guy DP'ing her and spackling her eyes shut it doesn't even bother me.

2 more wins, and we get a trip to El Paso. There are no gimmes left on the schedule either. I'll tell you what though. Give Coach Rix 4 weeks to prepare for Louisiana Tech, and we'll give em **** in the bowl game.

I have seen one of these posts every year for over a decade.

It is like ground hog year. Every year the same post as if everyone forgets the previous year.

As soon as the season goes south someone comes along and tells us it was the fans fault. Our expectations are too high, we have no talent, and the team fights hard and is competitive because we lost 40 games by only a few points.

I am pretty sure that fan expectations did not include blowing games, bad play calls and a Jr QB that forgets how to play QB.

I really do not think fan expectations are too high after more than a decade of inept football. Really, how could our expectations be any lower?

Call it like it is.... This season has been an F. Richt is to blame for it.... His inept play calling and blue light special hires on the offensive side has blown it up.

Hopefully he is not too stubborn to fire or demote his son and the OL coach... and hire a competent OC and OL coach

It's one thing to demand the best. It's another where you start calling for a coaches head 7 games into his tenure (people have been doing that after VT).

Richt has definitely not been good in his own right, and hopefully he doesn't take the same approach in staying with the same philosophy/staff and recognizes a change needs to be made.
