We are a real program again

I’ll have more detailed thoughts after the rewatch, but all that matters to me is that we are a real program again. We were a joke for 20 years. These types of games were not competitive. Teams like Alabama were playing a different sport.

Now, we can play big-boy football with any team in the country. Alabama is dead. The sport is open. And we are a real program again.
Score was MUCH closer than should’ve been…

We left a lot of meat on the 🍖

In the stands next to a bunch of ND fans and it was a similar vibe from them that the UF fans had early on last year :
.
They think of us as a dead program. Thought this would be a cake walk. Were genuinely shocked to see us push them around.
What has Miami done exactly over the last 20 years? I’d think the same thing. Obviously nice to get a W and it’s big step in the right direction.

Agreed, Mario has built up the talent level to match top programs; especially OL, DL and provided us with 1st round type QBs

Now the question is, will his in game coaching get in the way again of what could a special season. Let’s see

We clearly were the better team, and ND is very good. Without Mario and staffs passiveness, and the refs wearing gold underwear we win this game by 2TDs easy

Gotta get the run game right/open it up more and clean up the in game coaching mistakes or conservative play calling. Outside of that, this team should compete with anyone

Was thinking the same thing all night.

We’ll all have thoughts and posts about what we could’ve done better. We’ll all discuss what we did and didn’t like. We will get much better as a team, as most teams will. It’s week 1 and our QB has only been fully cleared to throw for a short time. The Miami team we saw tonight isn’t even close to the Miami team we’ll see through the season.

But it doesn’t matter. Mario has restored respect to this program. That crowd, that atmosphere, those athletes…it felt right. We have LONG way to go, but it feels good to not be a joke any more.

That’s a genuine blue blood of the sport, with a universally respected coach and literal unlimited resources. And we didn’t look overmatched in any aspect, at any point. I have no idea how this year will turn out, but it feels good to say that. It wasn’t that long ago that I was unsure if I ever would again.

Any word on Jakobe Thomas and Jordan Lyle injuries? I know Thomas went down in the 2nd half with what I thought was a cramp but never saw him again

On the lines of scrimmage we belong.
We aren't getting pushed around.
