We’re in…give me my flowers…

We lost to Louisville and SMU. That’s why we are out. Nobody seems to be bringing that up. Are we one of the best 10 teams in the country? Probably but we dug our own hole here.
We did lose to UL and SMU and that is certainly valid, but we have done enough to be in the playoffs this year.

We didn't deserve to be in the playoff's last year. This year is different. There are multiple 2-loss teams that we are clearly better than. We finished the season with a 4-game win streak where we dominated our opponents, including our last two on the road. We beat the team head to head that is right above us. Our two losses were both by one score.

Nobody is saying we deserve to be in the top 4 with a bye, but we deserve to be in the field of 12.

No doubt a bad loss but we have 2 bad losses. I personally think it shouldn’t be about bad losses but this is clearly their rationale here
Bad is a relative term, rationale requires rational thought, and there is nothing rational about using failures to determine competitive rankings (It’s a big reason why college football has always failed in determining legit champions).

You’d be better off talking about money or corruption, you’d be a little more honest that way.

I agree that we should be in but I’m just giving my opinion on why I think they are excluding Miami.

Once again who’s causing all the backslash for Miami ? Versus say bama who’s the darling of the Sec and msm. There’ll be a few talking heads that say we were screwed but “ backlash “. I see no chance anyone cares that much.
I feel you. I worded that bad. I meant that if bama was out there would be backlash but it's not based on merit.

Either way we SHOULD be in
Best win bama, miami, ND in that order.
Best (to worse) loss... and i hate this concept... ND vs. Us , miami vs UL, bama vs FSU.
Eye test recently miami and ND are 1a and 1b... then a big gap then bama

All the talking points (their talking points to avoid head to head) that will prop up either ND or Bama hurts the other

Gotcha. Kind of felt that your previous message was saying that you felt our losses to UL and SMU should exclude us. But, you are saying that is how the committee looks at them.

Yeah, you are probably right. I can see the committee thinking like this.

Miami - "Well, Miami lost two really close games against two mid ACC teams. They did finish the season strong and also beat ND early in the season, but that game doesn't count."

ND - "Well, they did lose their first 2 games, one of which to Miami who is right there in the conversation with them, but that game was so early in the season, so we won't use it to compare head-to-head or penalize them."

BAMA - "Well, Bama did get their asses kicked by FSU early in the season, a sub .500 team which Miami beat handily. But, that game doesn't count, because it was so early in the season. Bama did run through ESPNS/SEC overrated "gauntlet" of teams in the middle of the season. Some of those teams shouldn't still be ranked in the top 25, but hey, we will rank them to help Bama's case. Bama then played like crap down the stretch, squeaking by a couple really bad teams and losing 2 more games. But, we won't count the SEC championship game, although they didn't belong on the same field. We will penalize BYU for losing championship game, but not Bama. We will hang our hats on that win over the NFL team, Georgia, early in the season. Is that good for everyone?"

Miami lost to two 8-4 teams. ND's best win is over a team that's 9-3 and barely ranked. Miami beat ND and beat 3 of 4 opponents worse. I fele like I'm taking crazy pills.

If the roles were reversed you wouldn't hear a thing about Miami being in. I'd respect the committee more (well, at all) if they just said ND brought in more money and that's why they're in.

If Miami is out, there will be mucho backlash….the committee doesn’t want that.
The committee, and I cannot stress this enough, does not give a single **** about backlash as long as they get their good OL boy schools into the dance. It became extremely clear last night when they kept showing the room full of committee members watching the games. It’s a bunch of older white dudes who look around the age to have been in their 20’s as Miami was beating the **** out of their teams.

The funny thing about this all is that the committee is about to set two really ****** precedents by leaving Miami out. Firstly and most importantly, head to head doesn’t matter. Goodbye to any of those fun week 0 and week 1 OOC games because teams are about to load up on early season cupcakes before conference play. Second, three loss teams are allowed into the playoffs. Get ready for the SEC to use this to force more of their teams into the playoffs.

To the people saying we’re in, you don’t know.

To the people saying we’re out, you don’t know.

Yes, I understand, the CFP committee are a bunch of octogenarian idiots and I understand being not optimistic about them putting Miami in.

Do we deserve to be in. Absolutely!

Is it unreasonable to think that they’re going to ***** us? No. It seems that they have been trending that way. It wouldn’t be surprising at all if they ***** us. Then there’s always the outside chance that they do the right thing.

It really doesn’t matter what sports writers or anybody else here predicts. They’re going to do what they’re going to do.

But I still have to laugh at people saying definitively one way or the other what’s going to happen. You don’t really ******* know.

This is the exactly why we're not getting in today. All of this was true last week, yet they still ranked us behind ND.

People say the Committee's rankings lack logic. That's not true. Their reasoning has been crystal clear and consistent: Alabama, other SEC teams, and Notre Dame are viewed as superior brands that must be protected. When things are close, Miami isn’t getting the invite over those teams.

Yep. The SEC can manipulate schedules now to get 8 teams in every year if we're ok with 3 loss teams. Throw in the " eyeball test" and cherry picking which games really matter based on the gestalt of some establishment farts on a committee and even a one loss ACC team may be nothing more than a bubble team.
