Watched the 85-86 Canes play for first time.

You realize Kevin Mchale is a HOFmer and one of the greatest fowards of all time. He was a great defensive player. Larry Bird is a top 10 player of all time. Both those guys are badasses. The Celtics also had Parish and Maxwell, who both made the HOF. That 1984 Celtics team would blow out Lebron and the Lakers. They would put Lebron James on lockdown.
Hope you enjoy your last couple of posts and make them memorable.

Man that D Line was nuts in this game. Oklahoma ran everything from a wishbone and the defense had an answer for anywhere OU went with the ball. The offense was great too. Jimmy real pushed the envelope with his play calling.
Miami ended life for the option back then, especially the wishbone. But OU had **** of a team. They loss 3 games in 3 years -- all of them to us. After the NC game in the OB, Barry said he was never playing us again because he just couldn't be us. I had many friends who were OU fans. They still hate us. They were OU, the bad boys, most hated team in the land. We went into their house and stopped their Sooner Schooner from racing down the field. It was their gator flop -- except gators never won anything. They said we out OU'd OU.

Those were great years. Despite how good we were, OU, NE, ND and PSU were also great at the same time. FSU too. They would beat everyone else and then we knocked them of the NC hunt. We were in 2 or 3 games of the years and one game of the century every frigging year. No Bama team of today has been anywhere near our old teams but we were not robots like them. You kids where human and got ****ing and got beat because of it. I hated losing those game but it made football the most exciting it has been. The last 10 years have been boring compared to it. I am an old man but I would not give up the 80's even if it meant being 30 again today.

There is hope for you young guys. The Rock the night we beat ND transported me back to the West in the OB at its best. We had nights and days like that 6 or 7 times a year for most of two decades and then those Butch teams. I pray you young guy get some more of the wine.

I am seriously considering suing you guys. Idk why I being compared to Sean Taylor 21. It’s getting really ******* annoying. Idk who this guy is and I have never associated with him. Like seriously, stop it.

I was on that team. Our roster was filled with studs. Those where some special times. I have made so many memories from those years. Back then, our team was very close. We did everything together.

I feel that sports in general is so much different today than it was back then. Back then, it was way more physical. A great example I always use is the current NBA. If a guy like Lebron played in the 80’s and 90’s, he would get absolutely eaten alive. He wouldn’t be able to survive. Imagine the 89 and 90 pistons team or those great Celtics teams going up against Lebron. You can say the same thing about football. It’s rare to find a guy like Jerome Brown, Ray Lewis, Lawrence Taylo, Sean Taylor, ect. Those guys were the baddest dudes ever and they all played with a chip on their shoulder.
Cant agree with you on the Lebron point. I'm not a fan of his by any means as a Celtics fan, but if Lebron grew up in that era with his athleticism, I don't think MJ has the titles he has and I LOVE MJ. Physically Lebron is the most gifted NBA athlete we've seen. There was noone in that era that could have stayed with him IMO.

Man, I gotta hijack the thread for this silliness. I’m not even a Bron truther but holy Jesus this “LeBron couldn’t have played in the ‘80s” nonsense is the most absurd **** I’ve ever heard. Is LeBron a crybaby and maybe a little soft? Probably. But put him in the ‘80s, where EVERYONE was physical, and you think a dude MASSIVELY bigger than **** near everyone else would be “eaten alive”? Take a lap man, come on. MJ survived just fine and he was 6’6 and maybe 205 back then. Dude was a rail, just like **** near every other player. Go back and watch the “tough guys”....Bill Laimbeer, dudes like that. LeBron is 20x stronger than that dude. You think LeBron would go careening under the basket if Michael Cooper hit him in the head on a drive like these dudes did? In an era where there was no flopping, no diva bull****? Give me a break.

It’s pointless really to compare eras, cause everything is different. But if you think a 6’8 and 275 freakshow of an athlete would be “eaten alive” by dudes who barely even worked out, you’re out of your mind.

Have to disagree on Jordan. I agree with this guy. Jordan couldn’t get by the pistons until he cried and they changed the rules to protect him.

Bron might be one of the greatest athletes of all time. Did you see how Karl Malone and Charles Barkley wrecked that league? And they will not tell you they are better than LeBron. Bron is the greatest athlete in the most athletic period in the NBA.

The 80's were a great time for Miami football. Nobody saw it coming. Such a small private school with no history of winning. And the nation could not get enough of watching the Canes. Lovem and hatem. Only the UNLV runnin Rebs basketball have we seen anything like it. Even they could not sustain the greatness. Alabama has proven to be great over such a long haul. Clemson getting there. How Can Miami come back again?
