By studying the centers we had under this staff, like bringing in transfer portal guys Matt Lee, Zach Carpenter, and James Brockermeyer, it seems that Mirabol and Cristobal really value experience and want to have their center be like another Coach on the field. RR’s experience as a 6th year linemen works in his favor and he will be expected to make the line calls and assignments easier for Cogdon and the other guards. Moving forward, RR will be expected to help Cogdon move into a starting role and help Buchanan. Even meriweather could see some rotations as the season moves forward and the guards get more experience

IMHO, RR is not the most athletic lineman, but he will be the starting center and SJ is the center in waiting for next season with more experience under his belt , assuming that the others don’t step up and beat him out

Even when he misses his assignment he still looks to bury someone, he’s not out there playing duck duck goose just tapping every defender without blocking someone

Unfortunately 'politics' will always be a part of football - as long as humans are involved. If not for the $$$ 5* status, how do you explain Cantwell backup-repping ahead of Congdon in Palo Alto and beyond? The late camp practice reports about Congdon have been validated. More please, though we all should be well aware there will be some protection breakdowns.

Additionally, SJ from a Vegas powerhouse semi-feeder high school, given every opportunity, also has been ahead of Congdon. Politics and seniority. I give SJ credit for effort, but step aside, and honestly, even C next year is far from guaranteed with Woodrow around. Bottom line..play Congdon.
