Based on the snap counts, he was rewarded for his play. I think it’s pretty obvious he wasn’t a full go against WF and that’s why he didn’t play.

You can see the potential in Congdon even if he has some bad reps. I hate to pile on SJ but I watched him try and pull and it was bad. He looked so frantic trying to find someone to block he missed entirely and blocked air.

Congdon is massive and was much more aware of the most important defender to block and blocked them. He is the future OG and I hope he keeps improving as he is the CFP body type we need at lg.

SJ is completely overmatched. He’s an FCS guard. At center it will likely be a different story. Buchanan is just not a good enough athlete at this level and that translates to lack of physicality amongst other things. Congdon is light years ahead of both. If Woodrow didn’t get hurt, I bet we end up with Congdon and Woodrow at guard. The Cantwell experiment at guard is over.

I commented in game that there was one where Congdon pulled and just found open space. Did a real great job slowing down letting it develop and picked up a block. That’s really hard for an OL to be patient like that.

Even when he misses his assignment he still looks to bury someone, he’s not out there playing duck duck goose just tapping every defender without blocking someone
