Walk with me

I’ll say this I like the athleticism but the physicality at LB is lacking. He isn’t scared of contact but you just don’t see him running through anybody. All his tackles are just arm tackles.

Lmao.

Lb is a complete **** show if our top LB recruit under Mario is now getting hype from the owner of this site as a ******* potential WR, when we have also seen precisely ZERO development out of our young talented LBs for 1.5 seasons now…

This is insane.

Okay time to just accept we need 2 portal LBs who will start for us next yr. If we only get 1, we will have no depth and Marcelin will start.

If AJ Randle isn’t it at LB try him at Edge (if he has long arms), SS, or TE first. Pretty simple. ******* WR? Lmao. I guess if you want literally nothing else except for a pure sacrificial deep route runner
Safety would be a good place imo

Without trying to drag this amazing thread out any further than I'd hope it would, I'll bother to point out the obvious. Yes kids play multiple positions, yet you don't have them just floating around the field at random on either side of the ball simply because of their traits. Contrary to popular belief Mario didn't learn under Satan. He refined things under him. He learned under Jimmy and Butch... This talk is straight from their wheelhouse. HOWEVER you don't take a kid who primarily plays linebacker and is undersized but because of his traits you say ahh **** it. He grades out like two elite wide receivers have so let's just put him there. **** NO YOU DONT PUT THIS KID AT RECIEVER. You do that you're just throwing away a kid with elite athletic traits life and future. What we used to do is well documented. You take kids who have more athletic traits on that side of the ball and based on your line up and your needs you see how they would look as a end, backer or safety... If anything what he just potentially illustrated with this is the kid has the athletic tools to be a game changer at safety if he's not physical enough to play backer. If it's because of smarts that this is being thrown about than the only thing he'll be able to play is tight end.
Where did I say he has to play receiver? Undersized? He's 6'3 215 right now. All I said is you take the kid based of his traits and let it play out. I hope its at LBer. Not sure what confusing about that.

Yes whether LB, SS, TE, EDGE, just leave him at 1 spot. I don't wanna see all the movement. This staff only does that when they aren't gunna play the dude. Look at Pruitt... They just don't play the hybrid guys.
See idk about if he's got the ability to carry the weight or if he has long arms. If he doesn't have long arms or the ability to carry the mass I don't even really see Edge as a possibility. TE I can see used similar to how we used Arroyo and may use Briggs. TE is if he can actually get up to 240+ lbs though.... If not I see him only as a LB or SS.
Obviously it's dependent on how someone fills out once in a college s&c and everything else that goes with it. Sometimes you guys really get into this stuff for no reason. That's just stating the obvious. If the kid can't put on weight and looks like jaccory should we consider how he'd play at the or edge? Unless he can put on substantial weight and keep his athletic profile he should either be playing lb or safety. Simple.

Im not sure what you said honestly as I only saw a portion of it and then stopped reading. My comment was more in regards to this topic even being discussed from d bringing it up. I do that often and people catch a stray as a result. Blame it on my youth and random acts of violence.

Fair. I'm not following the premise of the thread either but I still think you take the kid and figure out the rest later.

I used to try and follow along with some of this when I get on here. But then the stupidity that so many people would say got me to where I felt like I had ADHD so I just needed to glance through things. Now for the most part I only respond literally to the things that I'm tagged in. It's done for my sanity. You always want to take elite athletes and find a place for them whenever possible. I just don't agree with talking about dumb **** for the sake of talking about dumb ****. I've seen some awfully wild horrible takes on here. I've seen people discussing Hall of famers like they were irrelevant. To me showing a clip of the kid who was so awkward against 14 15 16 year olds and then discussing him in the same breath as Jeremiah or Charlie Becker both dudes who are dominating at their level. When you start doing things like that and makes it seem or just chasing content or clicks and I think more of some people on here than that him being one of them. Honestly I agree that another position might be the best route for this kid. But should we discuss him as a long snapper as well? What about him transitioning into a lock down corner... Fml

AJ is going to be a beast at LB
Would love to be wrong, but I doubt it. His physicality leaves a lot to be desired. I sure the **** know he won't be a generational talent at wide receiver though... #justsayin
So if he’s not physical enough in your view, why are you so offended by moving him to WR?

D come on brother. You are way too smart for this and I'm not stupid enough to indulge much further. Just because a kid is athletic and can run you don't consider wide receiver automatically. Just look at the clips you've seen of the kid let alone the one you posted in this thread. The kid is very awkward. He's boxy. His build doesn't work for the position and all of this is being discussed before he's ever hit a college s&c program or got with a nutritionist. Let alone the fact the kid will be with us for no more than 5 years at worse. Yet the discussion is have the kid entirely change his body, somehow not gain any weight while he's doing all of this. Learn an entirely new position, all the requirements of it even things as simple as how to run let alone routes themselves. Than most importantly factor in what we already recruit that position as and ask yourself would anyone in their right mind even consider that part of it on top of the nil commitment necessary to have him here doing nothing but changing EVERYTHING about himself entirely... You'd put that kid even after everything else into a room with brysen,no cut, wingo, moore,Evans, etc etc etc.... Come on D. You're better than this brother
I understand ***** gotta be thrown against the wall sometimes to see what sticks. But you can do better than this in the pursuit of 7 billion posts and rising. Between this and lil buddy posting a thread today about a linebacker we haven't even said word one to in the kid who got kicked off of Auburn it's getting pretty wild. We're #1 in the country. Plenty of substance to be had from that

I might be able to get hudl tape of Millbrook versus Garner.

I saw he didn’t have much for the stat book against them and they are the only real team they’ve played.

This next one will be a showdown. Hobbs is a good RB at Clayton. 6-1, game speed, 10 yards per rush. Good program.
Milbrook beat the brakes off of them. They did beat Cleveland, but they’re down compared to what they have been in the recent past.
And he didn’t do much on either side vs MHS. Interested in Clayton.

I agree his size and speed doesn’t automatically make him a good WR. But it gives you something unique to work with. I don’t think he’s a goofy kid. He played basketball and quarterback before focusing on defense and still plays some offense.

If he doesn’t play defense, wide receiver is the logical next step. Where else do you put him?

Tight end would be the next logical step especially considering we don't even attempt to get much out of the position lately. But if he's not a linebacker or a safety than he shouldn't be someone we commit the type of nil were commiting to him anyhow. Few logical things going on with what heatherman has this far shown us and with today's flip in my eyes. He doesn't seem to put much value in linebackers ability or necessity to play off ball. I say that not only because of what we see with who gets reps but more so because of the importance he puts on a fast, physical nickel. Pretty sure that's what he sees white sides role as(BUT hoping and praying it's as an off ball linebacker who can excel in all aspects) I think safety is his path if he doesn't adjust to the physicality of the position. Sometimes it's just about surrounding someone with the right type of dogs to bring that out of himself. Jon had similarities like that as well before he got here and we see how that turned out.

... This is why I'm saying we should just move on then lol. Time+$ doesn't sound worth it. Yeah it's nice to say just see what he is when he gets to campus after S&C. But that **** costs money we could be spending on another LB who may actually play. Maybe lol

If there is any chance this dude is a WR.... Just send him to South Carolina to join Nyck Harbor

Tight end would be fine if he grew into it. We're still talking about running routes and catching passes.

We are talking about a Unit that is the single most loaded on the team (wr) vs ones that are the least (LB and TE). Why are you ignoring that?

Because it's irrelevant. I'm trying to find out his best position. We can't just wish for him to fit where we need him most. He may fit there anyway, but it's a different analysis.

If your argument is that we should drop him if he doesn't project cleanly at LB, that's a fair discussion. My view is you take the freak athletes with good character and figure it out later.

I think it’ll be his best path to seeing the field… the way the WR room is stacking up currently at least for the next 3 years is going to have a lot of dudes.

I wouldn’t be mad if he showed up and they stuck him in the safety room starting off to get him use to coverage and let him process everything in front of him.,. If he outgrows it move him to LB the next and hopefully being use to being in space the year prior will give him comfort and his only thing he’ll worry about is bringing the wood on contact that’s gonna be needed in the front 7.

Hmmm… this is his senior year, and he's not popping on tape. We have to allocate resources for NIL and Revenue Sharing. Given the kids we have access to now, UM can't get 3-4 true LBs. It's late in the process, and kids move around quite a bit from now to NSD. It's not like we're bringing in 30 kids this cycle. We just flipped Whiteside from TxAM.
