The fact that SJ is starting should concern everyone. Our HC is supposed to be an oline guru and his oline coach is supposed to be one of the best ( arms and legs, Alex ), yet we trot out the worst guard in the ACC every week. Whether it be in recruiting, development, evals or portal, that's a failure.

Look I trust the staff can coach em up on o line but there have been a lot of shaky evals. Why so many projects?

Hindsight… such a gift isn’t it? Were you saying that at the time or only on Monday morning when the problem showed itself?
Yeah, I figured….

Hindsight? Buddy - you and I dont get paid to evaluate the talent internally- that falls on Mario and Mirabol. I know Mario is paid 7 figures to make that assessment, and Mirabol high 6 figures. They are paid well to project forward, and develop the talent they have. Either they did not project or develop properly. and thats ok, no one is perfect- but someone has to own it.
Hey— you can get as worked up as you want— but when doing so, maybe you answer the question posed?

You’re screaming that this was obvious from the get go now you proclaim our HC & OL coach make millions—- this means what????

I have no idea how that was remotely connected to our poor showing on the OL thus far—

incongruent
Stay cogent here please?

I know McCoy worked really hard and stayed loyal to earn his opportunity to play tackle but he is the only answer on this roster to help the interior of this offensive line. Him at RG will solve a lot of problems.

LT Samson Okunlola 6-6 330 (4th year)
LG Max Buchanan 6-4 310 (2nd year) or Ben Congdon 6-8 330 (1st year)
C Ryan Rodriguez 6-2 300 (6th year)
RG Matthew McCoy 6-6 335 (5th year)
RT Jackson Cantwell 6-8 330 (1st year) or Jacob Hawks 6-9 330 (2nd year)

I just pray this staff actually pulls SJ and not waste this season on him. I have never been the one to say a guy is unplayable but SJ simply isn’t it and a big time liability for this football team.
I know Cantwell is this years blue chip that everyone can’t wait to turn on if he isn’t All-American a year out of HS.

But given Cristobal/Mirabal’s willingness to start young linemen (See: Maignoa (sp?)), isn’t the most reasonable assumption that Cantwell simply needs more time, like almost all ultra-blue chip tackle recruits.

Also, Matt McCoy looked like our best lineman last night. why would we want to turn a position of strength into a weakness? and that’s before you factor in all the injuries and holes we have elsewhere.

Because interior pressure is far more disruptive than what we will see coming from most teams weak side edge. I totally agree that McCoy looks great at RT, I would even advocate for a situation like Rivers in 24 where McCoy plays both RT and RG.

But under no circumstance should SJ be on the field unless it’s garbage time. There is far too much of tape on him being absolute trash and every team on the schedule moving forward will attack him as long as he is out there.

Miami is the 3rd best team in the conference right now. Good thing for them is they don’t play the top 2 teams.

ND is going to get ugly. Miami can hopefully finish 10-2 and win the conference to make the playoffs.

1-0 each week
By the way. Which two teams are ahead (or “better”) than Miami in the ACC right now? Inquiring minds want to know.

Thornton isn’t good in coverage don’t care what he did in practice. He wasn’t good in coverage at bc and so far this year he hasn’t been good in coverage vs stanford or wf.

The interior o-line is bad and I would like to know what’s going on on green tree because the things we were told about this o-line isn’t true at all. They should have hit the portal for a proven guy or 2.

Hetherman likes playing the soft zone whether the DBs are fully healthy or not. He needs to get more aggressive coverage wise because Stanford and wf wrs shouldnt be getting open that easy
Yes, indeed they targeted 0, 1 and 9 on defense. They keyed in on 0 specifically in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Minaya had me scratching my head , dude moved like a sloth

Bud Elliott is saying to definitely have some coaches on speed dial, but don’t fire Mario just yet.

This is a Championship team if Mario can get the OL going. We had 44 QB pressures which is the most under Hetherman so far, when we get our CB's back the D will eat.
