VT the type of game that Golden gets exposed in

This is all about Kaaya. Facing VT on the road will do good for him next year. Thats all we can hope for this game. Golden and the hobbit will be gone soon enough
I just hope Kayaa makes it through that game in one piece. Foster will send the house at him and VT plays dirty against us.

Foster will do Kaaya like he did Barrett from OTU. And Barrett is far more mobile. He's going to attack the **** it of him and give him different looks all night. He's going to confuse the **** out of him and apply pressure. Confusion plus forcing fast decisions will be Pud Foster's recipe all night.

This victory will be the beginning of a long winning streak for Al Golden and, hopefully, his springboard to a coveted Big-10 job (see Illinois) for him.

Let's go, Canes!

I think we have a qb with a quick release and some intelligence now. Our spread type formations will neutralize VT's blitzing if Kaaya is up to the task, I think guys like Berrios and Lewis will factor big in the game
Vt's qb is relatively inexperienced and isnt a big threat to run.He has a tendency to force the ball.Their best running backs are injured. Our cb's have become better at man to man coverage and our linebackers have improved in covering the short passes. Vt likes misdirection plays people need to stay home.
Our offensive concepts are much better now. Kaaya is using the whole field. That can open up things for our running backs. Pass to set up the run and run early from the spread. VT loves to put 9 in the box .We have to be smart and not run into that.

I wonder if Illinois would hire another big 3 Florida school reject like they did with Zook. Folden is Zook Light.

In the words of Jim Harbaugh, "Gobble gobble turkey!".

Golden is a jive turkey gobbler, but he might be the perfect fit for the Illini after Louie Tepper, Zook, Ron Turner and the current stiff.

One of the things I like about Bud Foster is that he never sits back and let the opponent dictate the action. The defense is active and forces the action. He's certainly beatable, but it's not from a lack of effort.

We, on the other hand seem to be dedicated to letting our opponents get into a nice offensive flow - sort of like practice.

I think the key here is our defense against their O.

That Brewer kid isn't very good. He throws a lot of INTs. Last time we beat VT we caused 3 TO's and we had zero. That's the only way we win this type of game on the road. If we play the same ******, pussified, passive defense we've seen most of the year, Brewer will likely have the game of his life and they win going away.

We put some pressure on him and let his ****tiness come to light and maybe we can pull it off.

With this defense and a coaching staff that has thrown in the towel, I expect Brewer to look like a Heisman candidate.

VT will force multiple fumbles in this game. We'll lose the turnover battle and lose by 17. A huge win for our program

Im scared for kaaya. He's going to face the most pressure he's seen and interceptions will be thrown trying to make up for the defense's shortcomings. Then after the game fat Al will blame the offense for turning it over.

I agree. Brewer sucks but you know how it goes - we will drop 8 and rush 3 DTs and he'll have all day to throw. I don't care how bad you are, any D1A QB can carve up a defense if he has all day to throw. And, Brewer is quity shifty as well so I'm sure we'll get the dreaded 3rd and 8 run for first down conversion.

It will be real interesting to see us on offense. We know Foster will stack the box with 8-9 all night. Will Golden handcuff Coley all night again a la Louisville? Historically, VT stacks 8-9 to stop the run right off the bat and then apply pressure on 3rd and longs. They've shown that if you're able to complete some passes on them, they eventually ease up and drop to 6-7 in the box.

Anyway, for a blueprint on how to attack VT, look at what ECU did. They attacked the seams and deep halves all game long. They had a lot of 1v1 matchups and won many of them. It took some balls to do what they did. I don't think Al does.

Completly agree. We should win this game, wether we do or not is up to how the coaches want to play things.

If I'm Coley I would be looking for ways to get the ball out of Kaaya's hands quickly (no ******* bubble screens though) as well as getting the ball to Duke in the passing game. I can't see Tech letting us beat them with just Duke on the ground, they're going to try and make Kaaya beat them throught the air which is where Foster's defense is legit.

However, if we spread them out with more 4 wide sets we could open things up for Duke in the running game as well hopefully opening up some things down the seam in the passing game.

I've got nothing on what we should do defensively because I doubt Gorlden and Dorito get frontal loble lobotomy in the off week.

The next time we neutralize a blitz will be the first time.

Quiz question:

Team 1 is giving up 5.18 yards per play. Team 2 is giving up 4.46 yards per play. One of these teams is Miami, the other is V'tech. Which one? Hmmmmmmmm . . .

Quiz questions:

Team 1 is giving up 19.8 ppg and Team 2 is giving up 24.4 ppg.

Here's another one. Team one is giving up 3.44 yards per rush, and is generally considered elite at defending the run. Team two is giving up 3.56 yards per rush, and is generally considered a disaster at defending the run. So much so that their fan base is flying banners in an effort to get him fired.

Anyone . . .

Or yet another:

Team 1 has given up 718 rushing yards in its last 2 losses

I would start with who both teams played........

That sounds like a real good idea. Below are the top four rushing teams each has faced, with their ranking in rush offense:

Miami

Nebraska (5)
G'Tech (7)
Duke (23)
Arky St (24)

V'tech

G'tech (7)
Ohio St (18)
East Carolina (39)
Western Michigan (48)
