Sonny starting at RT is a disaster waiting to happen.

I'd rather see Darling or McDerbutt out there.

Perhaps I have it all wrong

The race to replace former starting left tackle Ereck Flowers, Coley said, is a heated competition between Kc McDermott and Trevor Darling. Whoever doesn’t win that spot is likely to take over the right side, with Sunny Odogwu in line for plenty of playing time.

I believe Sonny has the physical tools, he has strength, good feet, long arms, perfect size, and he's in great shape. However, kid has no talent upstairs.

He's still learning the game and can be out fox'd by any speed rushing/savy DE. We're better off getting him reps at guard now, because on the edge, he's going to get Kaaya murk'd!!! :black_eyed:

If he's not ready I dont see him being out there. Kaaya be taken off on a stretcher.

THIS is my greatest fear for this season. Kid comes all the way across the country to play for these doofus coaches and ends up with a serious injury because these azzholes don't know what they are doing.

Odogwu has been getting the majority of the reps at RT, but McDermott and Isidora (with Joe Brown sliding in at guard) have also gotten reps.

In practice, Sonny has been shockingly impressive. I couldn't believe it at first, but he is performing consistently. He finally looks comfortable as a football player, and his physical gifts (particularly his long arms and upper-body strength) are starting to show.

If it was up to me, I'd give him a chance to start against FAU and Bethune. McDermott's future is at LG and we may as well get it started now. If Sonny can't handle it, we can always move McDermott back outside.

Final prediction

LT Darling - Jones

LG Gall - St. Louis - Wells

C Linder - Knighton - Grimsley

RG Isidora - Brown

RT McDermott - Odogu

You know players tend to improve the longer they play...All you guys were talking crap about Linder, until he shut you up. Lets see what Sonny does, before we bash a kid who is going into just his fourth year of playing the sport. I think the kid will ball this year. I rarely doubt Kehoe.

Gall is gonna ball out!

I look forward to your posts where you admit that he outplayed your expectations.

I like this logic here....although with his track record, I'd expect one of your 4 'shirt candidates to end up getting PT..maybe 2.
