Over the years I have come to finally forgive Vinny for that night in 1986. For years I thought he was on the take with some of those interceptions he threw. That said, that was one of the most memorable years for UM and it put us on the map as a program. The 1986 team has a place in not only UM history but in college football history even though they didn't win the title.

Would have won it in 1985 as well if not for guess who. Terrible in the big game (unless it was FSU or OK)

don't get me started, but that loss was 1% on Vinny, and 99% on Gary Stevens.

will never forgive his coaching malpractice in that game. hope he's chain smoked his dumb a$$ into a deep grave somewhere.
 
Vinny was the most physically talented quarterback we’ve ever had.

To this day, I will defend him and claim he could’ve been a true franchise quarterback had he first gone to a solid team instead of Tampa Bay. The Bucs organization was a joke. Ray Perkins and Richard Williamson were his first coaches. Vinny started to develop under Sam Wyche, but that didn’t work out for the long-term. After stint in Cleveland/Baltimore he went to the Jets and really came on under Bill Parcell’s coaching.

Still, he played 21 years.

I wasn't born yet so googled Gary. Had no idea Dave Campo was an assistant coach at UM!
