VIDEO: Who's the Best Player on the Team?

Lofton's stats in the 2024 Spring Game:

7-34-4.9 ypc & 1 catch for 4 yds.

Facts and Common Sense aren't welcome on the Hype Train!
I think he's mixing it up with the scrimmage before the spring game, where he ran for 150+. That's when the hype train really got started. I believe @sstcane was there, too.

If we have any aspirations beyond a Tuesday morning bowl game, it has to be Carson Beck.

In reality, likely Mauigoa.

Xavier Lucas is a darkhorse candidate. Rueben Bain can be if he bounces back from injury Maybe Justin Scott/Armondo Blount if they take the next step.
It absolutely does not have to be Beck, all Beck has to do is manage the game well, we have a string Oline with speed and weapons on offense, defense should be better. Beck just needs to be Ken Dorsey and we’ll go to the ACC championship

Richard Gordon got hype this this. He was fast and looked fluid. Cot **** brother got that first kick off and looked that dude from Friday night lights returning kicks. I hope he can live up to the legendary build up. Y'all make him sound like Jerome bettis is about to be in our backfield.

Ps please baby Jesus in a manger make that he true.

Believe me - I'm a big fan of Lofton.

But you're using scrimmage & practices as the basis to say "Lofton is the best on the team" over guys like Mauigoa, Beck, Bain who have played at an extremely high level on the field.

Last year Lofton had just an ok spring game & there wasn't an effort to get him the ball during the season.

Now I 100% hope Lofton shows out today and your "best player on the team" looks legit.

The litmus test is - if he's just ok again in the spring game today, will you be stubborn and dig in your heels, or will you walk it back a bit?

My heels are in the ground. Loved him since he was a recruit. I think he’s a star if he stays healthy. Unique player.

That's too bad. While I'm very high on Lofton too - I've seen you do this before.

You decide who a player is as a recruit - so how he actually plays on the field becomes completely irrelevant. You've already made your decision.

You wishcast players into something they're not.

I wish you'd just say something like "Mauigoa is our best player, but Lofton is my favorite player"

But like I said - Facts and Common Sense aren't welcome on the Hype Train.

Lofton over bain is disrespectful

I doubt it will be but i hope the Lofton hype is real because our weapons on offense has me low on this season as of today

My friend, you've spent 100,000 words trying to explain why an NFL starter was a bad football player. We've been here before.

Enjoy the show with Lofton. He will be an impact player and a legitimate pro, if healthy.

2019 Dolphins:

Kalen Ballage started 6 games
Mark Walton started 4 games
Patrick Laird started 4 games

Funny - Mark Walton is an "NFL Starter" but the other 2 aren't?

Facts & Common sense my friend - None of them were "NFL starters". All were NFL journeyman.

You said Jaylan Knighton was Dalvin Cook as a recruit
You said Thad Franklin was Frank Gore as a recruit.
You won't walk back either of those takes and just admit they weren't that good of players.

I'm with you that Lofton can be a great player here. I'm not with you that if he doesn't, we can't say "my bad, I was wrong".

No, I didn't, and you're resorting to this because you're still embarrassed about the Walton debate.

I said Knighton had a similar running style to Cook, as did his coach. But I threw in the disclaimer that Cook was better. I said Franklin ran like Old Gore. I thought those guys would be better out of HS than they were (like you hyping up Chaney), but never did I project that level of impact.

Case in point:

When you said Mark Walton (365 NFL yds) would be a better pro than Duke Johnson (5,135 yds), I told you Matt Dayes (42 yds) is a better comp.

You're still calling Walton a "starting NFL RB" and still think he would've been better than Duke Johnson.....so one of us "should" be embarrassed, but it isn't me.

You'll dig your heels into your take, even if it looks really bad later on.

Again - how they actually play becomes irrelevant to you once you've decided who a player is.
