Vegas thinks Golden is Gone after This Season

That says nothing about a buyout, focus, that is what you stated that the U would be paying him through 2019.

The board and the President have to sign off on any contracts. So there are plenty to fire that are still here. I guarantee you the buyout wouldn't be till 2019. That's just stupid.

Charlie Weis is still getting paid by Notre Dame (he made more from ND than Brian Kelly last year), you really thing Miami has some magical out from a guaranteed contract if they terminate Golden? It took them two years and a lawsuit to settle Randy Shannons contract after he was fired.

Best case scenario for Miami is either an agreed upon termination fee, or if Golden takes another job they reduce the payment by what his new deal is.

But it's absurd to think that Miami is financially getting out of a contract with Golden if they fire him, dude is getting paid either over time or in a lump sum. Simple as that.

LOL, who said that? You were the one flatly stating we were paying him to 2019 which is the really absurd comment.

You think Miami wants to pay a head coach 4 years of a contract in one shot instead of paying it out over time? Are you insane?

Golden could go 4-8 and he would still be the head coach at the Miami

I don't see Golden and the Chief Dwarf all chummy like before the Penn State fiasco.

Golden ****ed her off. Vegas says Golden sucks. (Some of the more analytical posters here have been saying the same thing.)

He could always go back to Temple...I think we are all cool with that

And then what?

Who does Miami hire then (keeping in mind they would have to pay Golden's until 2019)?

Damned near - anyone! Butch sticks out for a few reasons - cost being the primary concern.

Best of all - he'd like the job.
Butch has zero shot at getting the head coaching job at Miami again

You won't be doing the hiring.

Tough.

neither will you

these trogs point to 1 season that F.A.G. had a supposedly good defense at temple as reason why he will win MNCs at Miami. this is the type of idiot you are dealing with

Same thing can be said of Golden.

I haven't seen much coaching.

Lots of PR, but no coaching. No game day coaching. Defense regression. ****-poor execution. No player development.

So, same thing goes for Golden.

If Al Golden was fired by Miami at the end of this year (not happening), he would be hired immediately if he wanted another D1 job in 2015.

If he was fired because he lost the team, under .500 record, no he wouldn't. He would be in the same boat as Coker and Shannon.

I like Butch Davis but didnt he leave a loaded UM team to coach the Browns? Imagine what he wouldve done if he was here during the Shapiro Investigation. Yea Golden can do a lot better job at coaching and recruiting but you cant question his loyalty.

You youngsters should try to find out what happened. In fact, you should start with JJ, and discover how the Admin jerked him around.

Then go find out how they jerked Butch around on his contract, and he finally said, 'no more.'

Im no youngster but get over Butch Davis coming back. He even said it himself that he left. That doesnt sound like someone who had a problem with his contract. Why isnt he coaching right now since you know so much about him?

Holy christ you're ******* dense. You think Miami gave a small buyout to a coach who they gave a 4 year extension to 1 year into a deal, on top of his original 5 years contract?

If he doesn't have a massive buyout his agent would be the worst in sports considering the leverage he had when he got his extension.

The buyout will be big money if you fire him with 5 years left on his contract, 8 figures more than likely.

This makes sense to me. If you have the leverage to get a 4 year extension one year into your current contract, you most certainly have leverage to get favorable terms for a buyout based on dismissal without cause (not winning enough is not cause).

He better win one sihtload of games, or he WILL lose the team, and then further recruiting will tank.

It's real simple. Results.

We look like siht on defense, and we lose to Louisville, that will be all it will take for a number of recruits to say, "no thank you."

Now anyone can point out the potential liabilities of Louisville, but that coach has a hard-on to prove something to the world of college football. He wants to burn as brightly as he can, to make that winning big the only thing anyone thinks of when they think of Petrino.

We do worse than last year, I expect a lot of our promising juniors to forego their senior years.

8 figures??? LMFAO, we can't even come up with money to hire a top tier HC and you think the admin signed that kind of deal. Talk about dense.

Lol at your revisionist history, Butch was being a baby about his buyout despite the fact Miami was going to make him the 3rd highest paid coach in college football because he knew he wasn't staying that entire contract.

Butch was literally telling kids up until the day he left he was staying a Miami for life despite the fact that he was negotiating with Cleveland the entire time he was trying to get Miami to bend over for his buyout.

Dude left the program high and dry and left an entire signing class left hanging.

Then he went to the NFL and failed miserably, came back to the ACC and never had a winning record in the conference and was having his nanny write papers for football players.

There's a reason why his career is over.

This!!! This this this!! Take a read through this article to refresh your memory about how dirty Butch did Miami: http://si.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1021742/1/index.htm

How exactly did Davis do Miami dirty? Dee should have paid him.

I loved this gem of Coker taking over "He inherits a program that bears no resemblance to the mess that Davis took over; instead, it has as much talent as any in the country."

Golden is reportedly making somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.5M a year which means the University still owes him somewhere near $15M as of this season.

If you are buying him out after this year he's getting almost all of that money, even if he's taking 80% as a buyout he's still getting an 8 figure buyout. It's simple logic that you for some insane reason can't figure out.

How exactly did Davis do Miami dirty? Dee should have paid him.

He was set to become the third highest paid coach in college football. He was going to get paid but since in the end all he was doing was using Miami as a stepping stone to the NFL, he didn't want to be forced to payback salary to the school when he left for the NFL.

He preached Miami lifer in public but was nothing of the sort in reality.
