Vanderbilt CB Ja'Dais Richard commits to Miami

I think our DL skill sets fit Guidry D to a T. Also we have Moten is around 320, needs to step up and he is a FR but Horton is 300. Also the ULM transfer is around 300. I like that we have pentrators.....🐾🐾🐾 and a penetrating scheme. Our scheme wont be just to head up people but create confusion. That should mask somethings.

But we have to do it.

I like the top 3 of our DT rotation…I think it's top 15 quality in the nation. I also think top to bottom with Lichenstein (serviceable, obviously you don't want him starting) and the two younger guys overall it is a sold position for us. Campbell is an unknown to me, although I don't expect more than depth from he and gore.

The problem will be moving forward…We are gutted after this year unless Taylor or JHH stay…Horton and Moten are nice starting points, Collins A. as well, but we have to get more either HS or portal. Biggest need on team moving forward imo. We basically are only experctging 4 next year and one is Campbell

In UM's 19 seasons in the ACC (2004-Present), we have won 9+ regular season games exactly 4 times (2017, 2013, 2009, and 2005).
Seasons with 2 or fewer ACC losses? 3 (2020 covid year, 2017, and 2005).
Seasons with 4 or more ACC losses? 8 (2022, 2019, 2018, 2014, 2011, 2008, 2007, 2006).
Last season we were favorited in 7 games and went a 4-3 in those games. We were underdogs in 5 games and went 1-4 in those games. We lost 3 games we should have won, compared to winning 1 game we should have lost.

Most of these seasons, we had more than enough talent to hit 9 wins in the ACC. Most of these seasons (except probably 2017), everything after "but" (including injuries) has come down against us.

This year Vegas has us at 7.5 wins (squeezing the under). Catch me on an optimistic day and I'll say we're going 8-4, otherwise I'm joining you with a 7-5 prediction.
Exactly what i said. Optimistic day, 8-4. Otherwise 7-5. We have shown thats what we are capable of. Not only that. We never upset anyone. We get trampled like the previews say.

We deserve the handicap, and my personal expectations are lowered as well, given the intangibles @No_Fly_Zone mentions along with our history of underperformance.

On paper, I believe Clemson and A2M are the only two teams more talented than us, and we're roughly equal to FSU. Mario crushed it with the 2023 and portal adds, just missing that QB backup and NG. We're not close to a championship team yet. But we're so much better and deeper than a year ago.

I still "hope" for 8-9+ wins, which is the right target in a vacuum, barring an injury to TVD or multiple injuries along the first team. Time to walk the talk on culture and chemistry.

I hate it too... but I was one of the few saying 5-7 was a possibility with this team. I know a football dumpster fire when I see one.

We have to get to a point where this team has stone cold leadership. Coaches & Seniors and such that don't actually care about this year's results. Guys willing to suffer, even though they will never reap the reward. Then we might start hitting that 9-3 or better mark with some actual consistency.

Im not changing my predictions but Cristobal did a thing that u cant quantify now, but he brought in a bunch of leaders thats been in big moments like Deen, Lee, Cohen, Kiko etc. Even Jaden Davis. These guys have all played in Big games, title games, National championship games etc. We needed that.

These are good players but they are leaders to bridge that gap. We had some but not enough. Im not changing my predictions but im optimistic.

We have no business winning less than 9 games if we are honest with the amount of NFL level talent we have but the intangibles have to be right, coaching and team chemistry.
Feels like most seasons during this nearly 20 yr poor stretch Miami is considered more talented than almost everyone on their schedule on paper. They just never seem to make it happen on the field. Hopefully this is the year it finally clicks and this thing gets rolling

Im sticking to 7 wins.

I saw this Vandy corner as a PLUS the minute we offered. He had some ability and they didnt want him to leave i think his best game was against the GATES if i could remember.

CBs don't entirely "shut down" offenses in today's CFB. But, you've gotta at least be able to put up some resistance.

We need him to be good.

Might be a bit much to expect from a guy who mostly played special teams and a backup last year at that CFB bastion, Vanderbilt.

Hopefully he’s made a big jump this year

We constantly overrate our talent..every. ****. Year. This year, we need the bounce of the ball luck along with injury luck..the last canes team that won 10 games was more “talented” then this team on paper..and that team path to 10 wins was Turnovers & games that gave us heart attacks..i have no expectations..just wanna see a better product on the field

We had the same record is Vandy last year and he played a good bit for them.

Hey we got him for 3 possible szns it aint a rush there..but i think he is stealing reps from someone. I dont count anything until the pads are on though

If we get the JUCO kid (Polynesian kid; Siona Leone? Can’t remember his name) to pair with Richards next season..our CB room just went to being a top 2 position group on the team within 2 years behind the OL room. Amazing.

That's what I said. When it comes to talent acquisition, Mario is in tier 1 category.

This is most talented team I seen in the last 10 years. I agree, plus we playing in the ACC.

Mario was supposed to be an upgrade over Richt (semi-retired) and Diaz. Let's put his coaching capabilities to the test.

We still lack quality depth in many key spots.

I agree 8-9 wins has to happen or it’s going to be very bad for Mario.

Concern is always injuries. Injuries always happen. Last year was devastating by the end of the year we were running on a terrible roster each week.

We lack quality depth still on the o-line the most important group. We have maybe 6-7 guys who can play and that’s it. After those guys it gets really ugly.

Safety, who are the backups? Guys who have never played that is a major concern.

DT, who are the backups? One again major concern if we lose LT we are ****ed at DT.

WR is very young and doesn’t have 1 top dog NFL 1st rd talent as of yet. Dawson will have to be creative.

RB, I love how hard Parrish plays but he can’t be our lead horse. Mark is a true freshmen how much impact can he have, Allen let’s see how good he is, can Chaney stay healthy?

So yes, we have some top line talent at a couple spots but there are still a ton of question marks with this roster.

Ever year everyone thinks we all of the sudden are going to just walk in and dominate our schedule and every year the team disappoints. Saying less than 9 is a bold statement based on the roster we have.

We will be underdogs in 4 games for sure. The key to this season is A&M. We beat them we can go on a roll in my opinion.

If we lose at home early to A&M all that doubt is going to creep back into the players heads and the fans that ahhhh **** here we go again we suck. A&M is a crucial game for this season and it’s trajectory.
Funny how there are plenty of coaches with way less talent than what we currently have on our roster that consistently win 8 to 9 games in their conferences on a yearly basis.

There are zero excuses this season. If we have a similar number of season ending injuries this season to our starters then it’s on Mario too, because that would leave no doubt that Feld’s training methods are sus. His last 2 seasons at Oregon, and then last season here at Miami were M.A.S.H. units, but Mario hasn’t put 2 and 2 together yet.

I really hope that it was some kind of strange anomaly, and that this season we don’t see a large number of serious injuries. But 3 seasons in a row of many major injuries to key players is definitely concerning.
