Why are we wasting our time with Ny Carr & these OOS kids when Florida produces NFL talent annually? And they’re cheaper!

Go OOS for ELITE TALENT (Tristen Keys) or line of scrimmage players (Jackson Cantwell)

From Washington 247 writer

WR Vance Spafford - So this news started to leak out yesterday. Spafford "cancelled" his visit to Miami. In reality, it sounds like Miami has moved on. This now sounds like a battle between UW and Georgia. The info I had gotten relatively recently was that UW wasn't actively recruiting the talented slot receiver. That was sort of true. In reality, they weren't pushing for him because word was that he had priced himself out of the range that UW was willing to pay. However, it sounds like Miami decided they didn't want to pay the asking price either, so the Hurricanes cancelled Spafford's visit. He still remains committed to Georgia and now there's a lot of people who think he could stick with that decision, but word I got is that this is basically a 50/50 situation and a battle between the Huskies and the Bulldogs. Definitely a situation to keep an eye on.

Gaby says this isn’t true, FWIW

Our WRs last season looked the best they've looked in a long time IMO.

I'm going to go ahead and give Beard his flowers.

Recruiting is to be determined but saying he's an ok coach is crazy to me based on last years results
If you want to give him his flowers for last year that’s cool. But X is one of the hardest workers to ever come through Greentree . He lead that room by example. He was a psycho. Btw I’m not high on Beard or down on him. I’ve always been meh. If he wasn’t a former Cane he wouldn’t have been here twice . And the hype wouldn’t be so strong. Imo position coaches get too much hype and too much blame . There’s only a handful of guys who really stand out at each group.

Absolute truth, right here.

KB has not landed a Top 35 composite 5-star WR.

On the other hand, he has landed:

Composite 4-star Josh Moore - #125 recruit
Composite 4-star Malachi Toney - #358 recruit
Composite 4-star Daylyn Upshaw - #473 recruit
Not sure we were really close on any 2025 5-stars
Composite 4-star JoJo Trader - #42 recruit
Composite 4-star Ny Carr - #67 recruit
Composite 4-star Chance Robinson - #181 recruit
We did not get 2024 5-stars Jeremiah Smith, Ryan Williams, TJ Moore, or Ryan Wingo

KB is not the best WR recruiter. KB is not a terrible WR recruiter.

KB will not be fired or "non-retained" due to his recruiting.

Couldn't agree more

I try to only give my 2 cents on things I've seen with my own 2 eyes instead of recruiting rankings and what the called "experts" say about these kids. I go to games on Friday nights to see guys we are recruiting in the area where the Canes are playing the next day so I obviously see a ton of South Florida kids. Now some kids I've only seen play once so it can make judging them more difficult. I like seeing how they interact with other players, coaches, referees etc. Not just a highlight tape.

With all of that being said the best WR's I've watched the last few years are

Jeremiah Smith-The best player I've ever seen in all my years watching high school football although I didn't start hitting South Florida games until 2018.

drop off because he's in a league of his own

Mali-true definition of a DAWG. Put that kid anywhere and he's making plays. WR, DB, QB, RB. You name it. He made plays since day one at AH. I watched him all 3 years there. LOVE THIS KID. HUGE GET. Likely my favorite player to watch over the last few years even over my nephew playing in the league lol shhhh. Family is wonderful too. They are all about the team. Mom is the first one celebrating with for all the other players. No diva stuff here. His dad being a former NFL WR likely helps in that aspect.

Jojo-I remember watching him in playoff game at AH when he was at Central as a sophomore. I felt he was the best prospect on the field that night and that game was littered with 4 and 5 stars. Innis didn't play WR that night though. He was at QB. Jojo overshadowed by JJ at Chaminade.

Carnell Tate-Watched him while he was at IMG (and Mauigoa) against St Frances at the University of Maryland. He looked like a NFL WR that night. Loved his size and speed combo.

J-Roc Lopez-I thought I was seriously watching X on the field last year watching him play against AH. The show that he and Mali put on last year was something I'll never forget. AH is known for their secondary and Lopez gave them the blues. 256 yards.

Ny Carr- Watched him play a playoff game in GA the night before we played in Tally 2 years ago. First play of the game he took a screen about 90 yards against a very athletic team from the ATL area. Carr jogged the last 60 yards. Difference maker with his speed.

I did watch Northwestern last year 1 game against Norland and couldn't rank any of their WR's with those guys YET. I look forward to seeing them this season.

Obviously my main target in watching players are seeing guys being recruited by UM so that does reflect in this but if we can wrap up Lopez that would give us 4 of the 6 with the other 2 being Ohio State players.

Can't believe I wasted this in the Spafford thread LMAO

lowest? were you a Miami fan when we had Brian Monroe playing WR?
Pointing to one year and one statistic as validation is low. I expect the coaches to be versatile and effective in more than one area. That seems far fetched to the Beard crowd. The bulk of the credit for #1 offense goes to Ward then Dawson then Restrepo then the others share a tiny part of the rest. The WRs werent exactly washing DBs and running pristine routes. Beard has turned into a hero from being a sidekick.
(@Dza ill save you some time looking come neg this)

From Rivals

The four-star Georgia receiver commit has decided not to take the Miami trip this weekend since Spafford is not feeling well and he wants to regroup before heading to the Rivals Five-Star in Indianapolis next week.

"I will not be going this weekend," Spafford said.

"Not really too sure right now. I just can't make it right now with my health. Currently, I'm sick, the Five-Star is coming up right around the corner and I really want to do well at that so I'm not too sure about that but I know I won't be able to make it."

The Mission Viejo, Calif., standout receiver said he informed the Miami coaching staff of his decision on Wednesday and is still just considering all options in his recruitment.

Spafford has already been to Coral Gables, loved his time there and the Hurricanes have been considered to be the biggest threat to flip him from the Bulldogs.

"Just kind of still thinking and talking and going through the process, " Spafford said.

"I'm just thinking. I don't really have much going on.I informed (Miami Wednesday) so still figuring that out and seeing what I want to do with them."

Washington and UCLA have been two other serious contenders in his recruitment and USC has stuck around as well. He committed to Georgia in early November but made it clear throughout his recruitment that other visits would happen.

Spafford has talked very highly of Miami in recent months and after five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell committed recently, the Hurricanes intrigued him even more.

"Miami is coming very hard," Spafford said a few weeks ago. "Coach (Kevin Beard) is incredible. He knows what he's talking about. Coach (Shannon) Dawson is incredible, too, and they're all communicating with me every day and really trying.
Coach (Mario) Cristobal is phenomenal. That guy is great. The commitment with Jackson is big as well. A good o-line for a good quarterback is all I could ever want."

Last weekend, Spafford took his official visit to Georgia. Every indication was that it went well as the Bulldogs' coaches continue to preach about having him as a vital piece in their offense.

"I had a good time at Georgia," Spafford said. "It was fun. The same thing that they always kind of say that they're Georgia and they're the best so that's what they pushed.'

The past 2 YRs WR recruiting, as far as recruiting sites are concerned, has been our 2nd best recruiting position group to EDGE. And it's not particularly close tbh. And our only WR recruit under a 90 rating by the services is Malachi Toney and Upshaw, but Toney appears ready to walk in and start or earn significant rotation at minimum. So yeah it's been very good out of HS past 2 years.

However we have failed to land "The Guy". Trader could probably be considered one like if he were in this year's class. But the fact was his class was a loaded WR class at the top and flwe failed to land on of them we targeted. And we have repeatedly struck out in the portal. So if we again fail to land Keys/Russell or someone else comparable like Feaster, then that is a fail again. So if we keep failing to land the top top guy, but keep landing very very good guys like Trader/Carr/Moore/Spafford etc... then like on a grading scale it's probably a B+? Or something like that...

Kevin Beard had good WR play every season he’s been a WR coach. That shows how dumb this board is on football.

Rashawn Scott had a career year in 2015 and led the team in receptions, yards and receiving touchdowns

Stacy Coley had a return-to-form season under Beard, bouncing back from just 184 yards and no touchdowns to 689 yards and four scores.”

he had three receivers top over 600 yards.

Beard is a pretty good WR coach and a average recruiter. He is mostly liked by kids. He doesn't have a recruiters personality. I can only think of a couple top recruiting WR coaches in all of college. Mario wanted a whale WR last year, he missed. He got 3 good WR's. He doubled down on a whale WR this class. Right now, WR OV's:
Keys - miss
Harris - miss
Hampton - miss
Wingo - miss
B. Robinson - miss
Spafford - miss
Z. Robinson - passed
Evans - looking good
Lopez - doesn't have a basketball offer
I may have forgotten someone. You can say missed, passed or whatever, but those are the guys they wanted to choose from. That is terrible %, as of now. I believe we will still end up with another good WR class like last year. In saying that, for me a whiff on Keys, Harris and Wingo is a bust. If Wingo was a little faster, he would be a whale to me. Just outside.

Ward is going to make every WR look room look great.

He would've had people lying about a WR room consisting of Pope, Wiggins, Langham, and Few.

This is not saying Beard is trash but he ain't all that either. Every WR coach in the country would've gotten flowers from us last season...
