From Rivals

The four-star Georgia receiver commit has decided not to take the Miami trip this weekend since Spafford is not feeling well and he wants to regroup before heading to the Rivals Five-Star in Indianapolis next week.

"I will not be going this weekend," Spafford said.

"Not really too sure right now. I just can't make it right now with my health. Currently, I'm sick, the Five-Star is coming up right around the corner and I really want to do well at that so I'm not too sure about that but I know I won't be able to make it."

The Mission Viejo, Calif., standout receiver said he informed the Miami coaching staff of his decision on Wednesday and is still just considering all options in his recruitment.

Spafford has already been to Coral Gables, loved his time there and the Hurricanes have been considered to be the biggest threat to flip him from the Bulldogs.

"Just kind of still thinking and talking and going through the process, " Spafford said.

"I'm just thinking. I don't really have much going on.I informed (Miami Wednesday) so still figuring that out and seeing what I want to do with them."

Washington and UCLA have been two other serious contenders in his recruitment and USC has stuck around as well. He committed to Georgia in early November but made it clear throughout his recruitment that other visits would happen.

Spafford has talked very highly of Miami in recent months and after five-star offensive lineman Jackson Cantwell committed recently, the Hurricanes intrigued him even more.

"Miami is coming very hard," Spafford said a few weeks ago. "Coach (Kevin Beard) is incredible. He knows what he's talking about. Coach (Shannon) Dawson is incredible, too, and they're all communicating with me every day and really trying.
Coach (Mario) Cristobal is phenomenal. That guy is great. The commitment with Jackson is big as well. A good o-line for a good quarterback is all I could ever want."

Last weekend, Spafford took his official visit to Georgia. Every indication was that it went well as the Bulldogs' coaches continue to preach about having him as a vital piece in their offense.

"I had a good time at Georgia," Spafford said. "It was fun. The same thing that they always kind of say that they're Georgia and they're the best so that's what they pushed.'
That’s a vague response.

WR Vance Spafford - So this news started to leak out yesterday. Spafford "cancelled" his visit to Miami. In reality, it sounds like Miami has moved on. This now sounds like a battle between UW and Georgia. The info I had gotten relatively recently was that UW wasn't actively recruiting the talented slot receiver. That was sort of true. In reality, they weren't pushing for him because word was that he had priced himself out of the range that UW was willing to pay. However, it sounds like Miami decided they didn't want to pay the asking price either, so the Hurricanes cancelled Spafford's visit. He still remains committed to Georgia and now there's a lot of people who think he could stick with that decision, but word I got is that this is basically a 50/50 situation and a battle between the Huskies and the Bulldogs. Definitely a situation to keep an eye on.

Beard still stink or na?

Interesting.

Makes those quotes about working through it make more sense. Wonder who they pivot too if he doesn’t lower his price

are we really going to end up with Evans and some other jags?

Keep rotating these WR coaches often until want lands a stud, finally.

Interesting the Kevin beard hate is strong this class … people wanting to pull LSU, Ohio state WR classes when the last 1st rounder we’ve had was Dorsett a decade ago when these kids were still watching cartoons
The University of Miami would’ve had a prominent 1st Round WR if they evaluated better. Zay Flowers went #22 overall, Broward County

Jayden Higgins 2nd round pick from South Miami, if he’s a Cane instead of an Iowa State Cyclone, maybe he sneaks into round 1

Beard has been here for two stints and long enough to know what he is . He’s an ok wr coach/recruiter. So like most things the truth is in the middle . Nothing earth shattering.

Our WRs last season looked the best they've looked in a long time IMO.

I'm going to go ahead and give Beard his flowers.

Recruiting is to be determined but saying he's an ok coach is crazy to me based on last years results

Jojo needs to get drafted 1st round next year… we’ve gotta get him there. The optics of developing Jojo there are huge for making it easier to recruit the position… even if we need to spoon feed him 10-15 touches a game. He needs to be highlighted

Zero clue what’s going on with this kid but we aren’t the dodgers or Yankees that can be paying every single player “position reset” money. We’ve got talent on the roster and im sure we will finish with some talented kids… a Lopez would be a very nice replacement and he’s local.

Not a doubt in my head if we didn’t need to throw so much if the bulk offseason NIL money to remake the DB room we would have gotten another WR or two via the fall/spring portal.
