And I'm going to need your definition of "shouldn't be expected".

Simply stated, what has changed since prior years is that there is no limitation on a player unenrolling from one school and enrolling at a new school. So I don't have any expectations as to how many guys will bypass the Portal in order to change schools. Could be a bunch, could be nobody.

But knowing Mario, I don't think that HE "doesn't expect our roster to change". He is still making the effort. And that's all I care about. I don't care about "buzz" or anything else. I just want Mario to keep trying to improve this roster up until the Notre Dame kickoff.

You’re commenting about this like it’s a question about the ability for it to happen or that Mario is working to still improve the roster. I have zero question about the ability of this to happen or that it’s more likely than other recruits BECAUSE he’s a grad transfer guy so the timing would line up. But do you have examples of other top grad transfers being committed a place for months then just up out of nowhere enrolling in a different school in mid-June instead of the one he had been committing to, and with basically zero smoke out of the school that holds the commitment that maybe things aren’t set in stone?

I mean yeah lasagna and all that, but it would be a very very big surprise to the CFB world imo if this ended up happening, and it probably has less than a 5% chance of him ending up a Cane.

If you went skydiving and expected to live knowing the odds of your parachute deploying was 1/20, I’d call you crazy.

I'm not going to parse your word salad to get rid of the green peppers.

But there are two worlds that you are commingling. "Unenroll/enroll" would be undergrads. Grad-transfers are different.

As it relates to THIS RECRUIT, again, I've made it clear. He is not enrolled at his "new school". I don't give a **** "how many months" he has been committed or anything else. Let Mario earn his salary.

I would simply say this. Five minutes before Xavier Lucas chose to leave Wisconsin, there was "zero smoke out of the school that holds the commitment that maybe things aren't set in stone".

I'm not sure what it is about this dopey belief that there needs to be "smoke" or "buzz" or "a feeling in the bones of your left ankle" before a possibility can become a reality.

I'm also not sure what uniform Fields will be wearing in August. But this idea that adults can't have a discussion, and that we need Maudes to "nuke this thread"...now THAT is crazy.

Who gives a **** about whether some posters are "wasting their time"? This whole website is a waste of time, strictly speaking. Who gives a **** if some posters "get their hopes up"? That's what the summer before football season is all about.

Don't want to read about Malachi Fields? Open another thread. No big deal.

I don't think anyone is saying he's going to transfer here, just that he could still transfer here.

Kind of like me saying Ana de Armas and Sydney Sweeney could kidnap me and hold me as their *** slave doing unspeakable things to me this weekend.

No idea about Fields. But agree with @TheOriginalCane that Mario hs publicly stated he will stay on a recruit or transfer kid until they are enrolled. We know we have needs. Whether it’s Fields or other targets (I hope it’s multiple), we should hope and expect Mario to be going all out until he can’t.
