Usc fans on chip kelly....

Lmfao.

Who is a "better" option than Chip Kelly at the moment?

Chip took over Oregon when it was already great.

Butch > Chip

It isn't really close if you look at their resumes.

We are gonna fck around and end up w Skrong as Head CoRch

Just fcking hire Butch and spend money on coordinators

Already great....I wouldn't say Oregon was great. You could say improving.

Oregon's last Pac-10 title was 2001. Chip won the Pac-10 in year #1 .
Oregon's last BCS appearance was 2001. Chip made the BCS his first season.
In the four years prior to his arrival, Oregon was averaging 9 wins per season. In Chips 4 years, Oregon averaged 11.5 wins per season.

Performance....

Chip (Oregon) v. Butch (Miami)

Conference Titles: 3 Each
Ten Win Seasons: Chip (4) and Butch (1)
Elite Bowls aka BCS Appearances: Chip (4) and Butch (1)
Elite Bowl wins aka BCS Wins: Chip (2) and Butch (1)
Top 10 Teams: Chip (3) and Butch (1)
Bowl Wins: Chip (2) and Butch (4)
Average Wins Per Season: Chip (11.5) and Butch (8.5)

Chip v. Butch NFL

Playoff Appearances: Chip (1) and Butch (1)
Average Wins/season: Chip (10) and Butch (6)
Win Percentage: Chip (60%) and Butch (40%)
Winning Seasons: Chip (2) and Butch (1)

Chip v. Butch Total College and General Tidbits

Averaged Wins Per Season: Chip (11.5) and Butch (7.9)
Bowl Record: Chip (2-2) and Butch (5-2)
Total BCS Games/Seasons: Chip (4/4) and Butch (1/10)
Top 10 Teams/Seasons: Chip (3/4) and Butch (1/10)
Age: Chip (51) and Butch (64)
HC Seasons: Chip (7) and Butch (14)
Last Season Coached: Chip (Current) and Butch (2010)

I'd take Chip Kelly over Butch in a heartbeat, but you aren't exactly comparing apples to apples here. The Eagles historically and recently have been a much better run organization than the Browns and Oregon was a solid team with records of 11-1 and 10-2 the two years before Kelly took over.

That being said, I am still taking Kelly if given the option.

I would not call Their seasons before Chip took over as great. Chip took them from good to elite. I think that is a much more impressive task than taking them from bad to good

Could you elaborate on “has not won anything”?

It is a little nebulous.

And if you could please provide the long list coaches that have won something that are better than he is?

Look, he's light years ahead of the slop that we've put up since Butch Davis left but there are legitimate questions about Chip's ability to take it all the way. First, I recall his offense was shut down against stout defenses (Stanford under Harbaugh for example). Second, he hasn't shown the ability to put together a competent defense either in college or the pros. I would be all in for Chip but to pretend like he doesn't have a downside is silly as well.

He smashed the Stanford team coached by Harbaugh 52-31 then the following year smashed them 53-30.

Also when you are scoring that many points and so quickly, the defensive stats will suffer. In most of their games the starters are sitting in the 3rd quarter

Chip was the OC at Oregon 2007-2008

Kelly became the Head Coach in 2009- 2012 that is 4 seasons

He never won anything significant?

2009 - 10-3 played Ohio State in Rose Bowl
2010 - 12-1 played Auburn in National Title Game
2011 - 12-2 Won the Rose Bowl
2012 - 12-1 Won the Rose Bowl Overtime game away from playing in another title game

That run is outstanding.

SC board has one legit point.. our personnel and chips offense aren't a match.. jack allison would certainly go elsewhere too.

This school is not going to hire a coach who had serious problems with the NCAA. They're dragging their feet on Butch because of the UNC scandal even though he was cleared of any wrongdoing there. They'll never touch Kelly because of this.

yes, but it might get a top dual threat qb committed elsewhere or not considering us to consider us now

You can never compare apples to apples. No 2 coaches have the same EXACT experience.

The NCAA found that Chip was not involved or aware of the recruitment of Lyles. They hit him up with failure to monitor

Or maybe they think they can do better?

Chip Kelly has never had anything close to the type of talent available at Miami or USC.

It would fundamentally change college football if he ends up at USC or Miami.

Chip is a very good college coach and I won't be disappointed if hired but I personally prefer Butch for Miami.

I might have been a bit unfair. He had a very good overall record at 46-7 and in conference at 33-3. He was 2-2 in bowls games and finished 11th, 3rd, 4th and 2nd in the AP Poll during his four years, but he did not win a NC. If UM fans can handle conference dominance and losing out on a NC and a .500 record in bowls, then he is a great choice. I just worry about him taking short cuts and whether or not three years in the NFL with a lot of money, has diminished his appetite for college football.

who gives a **** what fans think. you think if it were up to our fans we would have hired a guy with a head coaching record of 28-29-1 before his tenure at um.. or a guy, whos head coaching record was 50-31 at schools like wyoming, idaho, and washington state???? ****, same fans who paid to fly banners for butch now have the biggest hardon for him lol smh

He was there for 6 seasons. 2 as OC. Upon his arrival they immediately improved.

So only coaches who have won a NC should be accepted?

So that should eliminate Butch Davis, right? I guess it's Steve Spurrier or bust for us.
