Not a great job but a glamour job. His reason, a lot of Florida HS players are developmental players due to the coaching they receive in High School compared to the LA, Georgia, Ohio areas. He spoke on the high school coaches in some of those areas being paid more. Paid more as we all know sometimes equals higher quality.
Could this be a reason why a lot of our players are actually better in the NFL and don’t develop as much in school. Yes, some of it is on the coaching staffs we have had over the years.
Btw, this was say on Colin Cowherd show.
Urban likely learned that from west coast coaches because they’ve known it for decades - this side of Florida usually cannot match up with all the talent across the board of the top couple of Miami teams that have the best shot and attract the transfers.
The shot you have to beat them is coaching and discipline play. High school teams can get away with winning on talent alone, but as our Hurricanes show, in college, it’s been a different story. Miami needs to stop being lazy and settling on the same broken recruiting plan of “staying home.” Put the same effort into recruiting the state as they do Miami, and things will begin to change. You start getting players who actually lead when it's time; you get players who don't need to be coddled all the time, players who don’t lose you games with selfish penalties, or a myriad of other mistakes they should have corrected on high school fields.
