Urban Meyer on Miami Job

Is it a coincidence that Miami, FSU and UF suck while losing all of the top in-state players to Clemson, OSU, UGA and Bama? No, no it isn't.

Corching keeps kids looking for greener pastures. Especially when bags are in play.

Miami has an epic corch.

FSU just fired an epic corch.

Mullen is a good coach but just a decent recruiter (which is why I was meh on him when he was mentioned for the Miami job. Still, enduring Manny is making buddy look like Knute Rockne). Florida will look the part for what Mullen is.

Say what you want, but players in Florida WANT TO WIN!!!!!!!

They are not in the business of taking L’s propping up garbage coaches to satisfy the misguided loyalties of fans with no real skin in the game.

CFB national titles since 1983:

Florida- 11

The states of Ohio, Georgia, California and Texas combined- 5

Next.

Yet it’s well documented in all the 30 for 30 films where players told coaches don’t touch the offense or defense and said they were more of chaperones than coaches. You could win in the 80’s and 90’s with pure talent. Not anymore!

All these schools across America get 5/6 players from Florida, plug them in skilled positions and develop them into studs. While here we have a bunch of undisciplined athletes surrounded by guys who come from out of state and make more noise.

Funny how most our skill position players here who start and are more productive are... out of state guys.

williams, Osborn, jordan and I can name at least 15 more from the previous 5 recruiting classes.

Urban Meyer’s best team ever started 14 Florida players, including his QB and his three best OL.

Consistently good teams need coaching and players. The problem with our last four head coaches is that they were bad coaches. That’s why they aren’t head coaches anymore. Their players are still getting paid to play.

We watch these Miami HS teams w loads of talent and athletes go to Texas, Georgia, Cali, Ohio etc and lose games to lesser opponents due to coaching and undisciplined football.

Florida teams should never lose to teams from Nevada and Maryland Ohio.
Even when they do win they leave the game w 15 plus penalties and mostly score off explosive plays... like Miami Canes. This is what happens when you build a coaching staff full of friends from the neighborhood and not coaches who spent years doing building craft.

he’s URBAN MEYER! One of the greatest coaches to ever work a field !!!!

We can’t compare him to Randy, Golden, Coker, Rucht and now Manny.

He’s a hall of game coach. He had Utah balling at one point due to his offensive scheme and developing players. He went like 22-2 in the 2 years he was there.

what he did at bowling green in his short span is still considered today to be one of the greatest turnarounds in the history of the NCAA ... add Matt Rhule to that list now. But we’re talking about a GOAT coach.

Bobby Bowden has allllllllll that talent allllllll those years and won how many rings? 2?

Urban won that at Florida in like years because he knew 1. How to eye talent, 2. Develop it 3. Coach it up.
S. Fla teams are HIGHLY undisciplined and rely heavily off of pure talent just like Fsu did when they won w Winston and Freeman/Cook
now look how both the mighty have fallen

Exactly. Meyer is a real coach. Put him with “underdeveloped” Florida players and the results are historic.

Guys like Coker, Shannon and Golden are bad coaches, with or without Florida players. That’s why nobody is paying them.

you’re proving his point then Bro.

Without elite coaching then Florida kids/schools are just fun to watch for big plays and raw talent. But you’re not going to compete w disciplined teams w quality coaching.

perfect example.. Miami hurricanes losing to Butch Davis and FIU.

Respect ! ✊🏿

Bad hires will kill you anywhere. That’s why nobody is hiring our old coaches.

Texas and Georgia have the best, highest-paid high school coaches in the country and they’ve won 2 combined titles in 47 years.

If those jobs are easier because of superior high school coaching, where is the evidence?

Because they rely heavily on talent ... their hires in college coaching has left MUCH to be desired in each state.

give Meyer that talent Richt had in UGA and he’d have 5 rings.

you can’t convince me Bama Ohio and S. Carolina has better athletes and talent than Florida. But they do develop their players better at a younger age and have one of the greatest coaches of all time.. insert some ballers from Florida and you can build a dynasty.

Explains why wekiva became so good recently. If I’m not mistaken their hc has miami ties and it’s either wekiva or apopka for schools in that area.

Its a new school with ties to some good feeder neighborhoods. The year they were good literally about 5-10 kids took off and went to the wekiva. Rick D was a disciplinarian didnt sit right with a couple of the kids and they took their friends with them. Tyler Davis the kid at clemson and some others would have been at apopka they would have been the favorite in 8a for sure.

**** development, gimme an offensive scheme that utilizes south Florida talent and speed like Manny installed with the defense when he took over..... please.

You do know that GT won a national championship in that same period?

8 of 11 of those title were between 1983 and 2001. That trend is dead, over...long gone. For example, the state of Florida only has 1 title in the last decade, and outside of that blip, the state of Florida hasn’t even sniffed title contention in **** near 12 years.

The downward trend in state of Florida footbal is unmistakable, striking, and quite obvious to everyone.

The only people that still view the state of Florida football as some dominant beast are people that life in Florida. The rest of America no longer views Florida football that way...hasn’t been that way in 10 years.

Also, of the 4 CFP teams, here are the number of starters from the state of Florida:

Oklahoma: ZERO
Ohio State: 2
LSU: ZERO
Clemson: ZERO

I would assume there's a correlation between the overall quality of the coaching in a state to the number of highly ranked QBs that come out of that state. Georgia really stands out lately, seems like QBs grow on trees there.

Florida has good QBs but it seems like they develop more once in college. I'm not die hard like some of you guys about following recruiting so I could definitely be wrong but that's my impression.
