Always was surprised we didn’t shift him to safety, hope he’s ready to step up.
 
as always thank you for breakdown. Much better to be critiquing after a beatdown than a loss. But a lot that needs work and it needs to be cleaned up by wake
 
@Lance Roffers i saw it mentioned a few times in other threads about our IOL being in 2 point stances and I saw the spot where you pointed out Jackson getting beat across his face. Do you think having a 6’7”/6’8” guy inside playing high like that would contribute to getting beat like that? I would think a DL playing low and getting leverage under a much bigger OL would make it easier. I just think being in a 3 point will keep our guys in a better position to fight that inside battle?
 
Yup the moment SJ was replaced by Cantwell, the run game improved. I noticed Woodrow get too far forward and lose a rep which could have been a nice run. But he was driving guys back vs Ryan who was getting pushed back 2 to 3 yards run after run.

I don't understand how he hasn't been beaten out for his spot. He was terrible. I don't like to say that about our guys but that performance by Brown was Baumanesque. The reality is that Jaboree Antoine and OJ Frederique are out so I would like to see Portis, Jennings, Waters and Ewald get plenty of reps at CB.
 
I mean I’m willing to give the OL a few games to gel together and find its starting 5 since the 5 we saw at Stanford won’t be the same 5 we see against Clemson.

But when you are having trouble snapping the ball not once not twice not three times and you are getting your **** pushed in by Stanford DL then it’s time to reevaluate things. This is an obvious national championship contender and that **** won’t fly later on in the season.

I’ll gladly eat crow if SJ and Rodriguez figure it out.

Presnap recognized the alignment & guess outside run. Then disengaged with the blocker to get the TFL.

That's his strength as a Nickel, Frontside/Backside run support & collapsing the pocket as a Blitzer.

He's never been great in coverage going back to Boston College. He rarely ever dropped into the Deep 3rd, he pretty much exclusively played Cloud Hook & Hole Zones.

Heatherman thus far has used him in the same way.

The more rhe game went on the more Thorton started looking like Scott.

It's game one of a completely revamped oline.

There's not a "contender" out there without some things to sort out after one game.

Like I said when you are having difficulty snapping the ball multiple times as a 6th year guy then there’s a problem. Or when your 4/5 star OL came in as a center and can’t snap it either so you are forced to play him at guard and can’t do that then its time to give other guys a shot.
