Upon Further Review: Carson Beck

You all are talking like we had great QBs for 20+ years. If Beck can come back from his injury which is a big “if”, he would be the best QB we have had here outside of Cam Ward in 40 years.

So Mario has brought the 2 best QBs in forever and you guys are still *****ing.

I’m just hoping he proves the two of us wrong. Good chance they pull in an elite wr in spring which is good… it’s the hope that kills usn

Does he have strong arm?

Before the injury, he was 45% on passes beyond 20yds on air & now he'll be coming back off UCL surgery. Are you sure his supposed strong arm will be the exact same after recovering from surgery?

Has he performed well in big games when he didn't have elite talent around him?

Is there a 1,000yd WR, NFL TE & 1,000yd rusher that's supposed to be hitting the Spring Portal?

Valid points about his health and having elite weapons. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wat I’m getting from you is that if everything isn’t perfect, Beck won’t be good. Which I disagree, bc there was a lot wrong with that UGA offense that had nothing to do with Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers.

That UGA offense was Beck or bust. Subpar WRs, OL, and running game. I truly believe if u take any top qb and put them on UGA they have a worse season….even Cam Ward. That offense was mediocre, scheme wise and talent wise. Dawson’s offensive scheme is more qb friendly, despite how good Cam is he schemed it up well to make it easier for him.

So I am banking on Beck being healthy and Mario and Co being able to get a WR1. I think having a 1000yd rusher and NFL TE r lower priorities, not a need unless they deem so after further evaluation of those positions. Whatever holes remain on the roster I trust the staff to fill the majority of them until the season starts.

I generally agree, but the O line plays a pretty big role there too as well as the secondary. It's harder to find an open receiver when the DB is on them like a blanket and the D line is collapsing the pocket.

But your point about great stats against weak competition perfectly describes our last 20 years.
 
The bottomline is Mario should have done better at QB in recruiting in 2023 and 2024 but given the options in portal this year after Mateer, Miami did as well as I could have hoped at QB. I think beck with some added weapons at WR and return to full health can still help us win the acc and potentially more.
 
I’m not sure it’s been mentioned much in this thread, but Mike Bobo stinks. Pretty sure @Memnon has said the same in other threads. Hopefully Dawson can get more out of Beck.

Cam is better than Beck.

He’s going to be the #1 overall pick if the Titans are smart. We had the #1 offense by far.

If we’re constantly comparing Beck to Cam, and this offense to last year’s, we will be disappointed. It’s almost guaranteed we take a step back. It’s virtually impossible to get any better.

Can Beck be a Top 10 QB nationally and can we be a Top 20 offense? That is what matters right now.

We already saw that having a rock star QB and the number one offense got us exactly nowhere. I'll be content to have a really good offense and a defense that can help preserve the lead. Then maybe we'll get to the ACCCG and further.

Dawson did not & has not had one ounce of faith in Emory regardless of what anyone may have said or been told. His actions shown that any time Emory was in a game against P5/P5 Defenses he wanted absolutely nothing to do with him as a QB.

There was no scenario (other than injury), in which a Spring & Fall camp would've resulted in Emory being the starter next season.

All that talk about Emory being the emergency #2 was just GreenTree propaganda.
