UPDATE: STILL MY OPINION: Hurts decision expected tomorrow/martell by Tuesday

Rattler doesn’t enroll at OU until soMe time in May-June at earliest. Riley hedging his bets against a down year with a new freshman QB

I'm sure Riley would love to hedge his bets. On the other side of the equation, you also have to believe Hurts is a moron and is going to believe Riley telling him he will be the starter over Rileys handpicked QB, who is also the #1 HS QB in the country. I think Hurts is a bit smarter than that.

Rattler is Riley's handpicked golden child. Riley will go with potential (like Dabo with Lawrence) over production. Hurts isn't a fool.

Rattler is staying 3 years and is the guy for Oklahoma going forward. Why would Hurts go there where he will most likely win the job here over 2 knuckleheads and a redshirt freshman in Williams.

OU will have better odds at making the playoffs. If it was about a guaranteed starting spot he would transfer to Rutgers. Hurts obviously wants both a starting role and a team that can compete.

Sheesh I didn’t even know rattler was ranked that high

Miami offers both. Obviously Oklahoma is the better team but he’s gonna have to fend off the best incoming qb in the country.

Maybe he wants a shot at Clemson again. In that case... :)

He's not getting a starting spot at Oklahoma. But for the sake of argument, let's say he buys what Riley is selling. At best it's a dogfight with Rattler til the end. If, somehow, Hurts wins the starting gig and Oklahoma drops a game or Hurts makes mistakes because of unfamiliarity with the system, all he will hear is Rattler should be the starter and he gets to replay the Tua Tagaviola experience. If he gets pulled, that's probably the end of his career. At best he goes 5th round.

At Miami with Hurts, we likely go into the ACC championship game serving as the play in game for the playoffs. Do we beat Clemson? Probably not. But if they lose Lawrence due to injury during the season, anything is possible. Even with an ACC championship game loss, if he leads Miami to an 11-1 season, Hurts shows scouts he can carry a team and has a shot at going 3rd round or earlier. He is in almost no danger of losing his job due to a bad performance.

And Rutgers doesn't have quite the national name recognition that Miami does.

Spencer Rattler. The #1 HS QB in the country. Rated almost as high as Trevor Lawrence last year and is higher rated than Tua was (who BTW took Hurts job at Alabama). You really think Hurts wants to roll the dice with spending his transfer year behind another freshman phenom?

One slightly sprained ankle and hurts looses his last opportunity to show people he can be an nfl qb. There is upside at OU but plenty of downside risk. Miami is a better opportunity for him. Nobody will be taking his job.

I see this scenario playing out, @Mklein13, also. We have 2 selfish QB's who are just too immature, plus with Enos coming over here instilling his offense that Hurts is already familiar with.

We were just 7-6, and we’re talking undefeated into the ACc champ game?

Woah, Nelly. Let’s slow it down a bit.

Can we STOP with the misinformation about Martell sitting next year? Kid is on pace to earn a master's degree from OSU by the end of this semester. Supposedly the quality of medical school he'll be attending next year at his transfer school will be as large a factor as anything else. If it's us or WVU then we ******'.
**** didn’t know this

But it’s not 50/50. Hurts is a Cane unless for some reason he just doesn’t like it here or something wierd happens. It’s more like 90%.
Don't get me hyped like this, man. Is your "90%" an educated guess, or do you have the goods? Either way, I'm stoked!

Absolutely no way he can play d1 football and attend medical school. The program isn’t even on campus.

lets stop this nonsense about him starting -- he WILL not start at OU. riley has promised his golden child rattler the job essentially w no competition. hurts will not go somewhere where **** sit behind someone esp a freshman in his final year.
