Update - Clarification from David Lake, 247 TODAY

The only things we know for sure is the incompetent UM AD is gone and a new one is needed. Everything else is speculative bull****.

What needs to happen, should happen, and I’m somewhat surprised hasn’t happened, is the President of the University of Miami should make a public statement concerning the current status of the AD search. We’ve seen many times in the past university presidents make public statements in these situations. The AD search is currently the most pressing issue and a public statement would quell many of the rumors.

Included in that statement, comments about the status of the head football coach should also be addressed due to all the speculation concerning Manny’s tenure and future.

In my view, Frenk not publicly addressing these issues tells me he’s either unaware of the chatter, or it’s not high on his priority list, a holiday is near, or a combination of these and other factors.

Not hard to figure out the play here

Epstein’s side leaks to Ferman to start a fire and throw a fit hoping to derail the work that has been done to date that doesn’t benefit them and that they don’t want

Other side leaks to Lake to counter that narrative to re-assert control and order

The very fact that we have competing narratives tells us we have in-fighting. Who is going to take control of this thing? Find out next time on As The U Turns
This makes a ton more sense.

Been hard for me to follow the board with the amount of posting going on. What exactly happened last night?
Referring to that Ruiz Twitter space last night. There was a whole thread on it that got locked. Lots of dirty laundry being aired out in full public view that made the UM admin/BOT look like a bunch of bonobos having a full fledged ***** flinging party at the local zoo exhibit. Not to mention our own board members going at it themselves. Lake's article today probably written as a counter narrative to mitigate what was a very bad look to people outside the program.

This narrative of a ‘power struggle’ happening at Miami with the AD and potential head coaching search is disingenuous. Where is the power struggle? President Julio Frenk is in power and he and his advisors are making changes.

Miami does not have a AD…no power there. The board of trustees is toothless (the decision to part ways from Blake James was made without their input for a reason)…no power there either.

HERE IS THE NEWS: Frenk and his advisors will hire the AD, which is currently going through a search firm process. The AD and Frenk will then make a decision on Manny Diaz.

President Julio Frenk and his advisors are attacking the status quo and these aggressive changes are making people uncomfortable. Are you all satisfied with the status quo? These type of massive changes need to happen if Miami is going to move forward and have success. The problem is systemic.

Again, people in the Hecht building and on the BoT leaking out that Manny Diaz is on the cusp of returning is disingenuous. Interim AD Jenn Strawley is not a candidate for the AD position. That would be a status quo move and the people making this decision don’t want the status quo.

These narratives are damaging because they characterize Miami as a circus (which it isn’t), but this circus narrative is something that the status quo people want to put out there because it could potentially scare quality AD candidates and scare a potential quality coach. These narratives are a shining example of why a total culture reset is needed.

Don’t fall for it. It needs to stop.

Screenshot this and post it wherever.

Lake doing a certain factions bidding....read between the lines.... just fyi. he is a good guy but he is 100% wrong on a few key points. we have our AD. people trying to stop it....

Epstein's side wouldn't have leaked to Ferman if they thought they had the upper hand.

Exactly what I was thinking. If we've learned anything over the past year, fake news runs rampant. Just because someone says something doesn't make it true. It's usually the opposite.

Fantastic post and what it’s 100% on. JF has taken the issues head on and has made it clear it’s his show for now. He’s surrounded himself with credible voices and by all accounts has done everything possible to right the wrongs. There is no power struggle. I’ve heard directly from 1 member of the BOT that his urgency and prioritization of the athletic program at this time has changed the overall dynamic and feelings of some of those status quo folks who have had a hand in being where we are now. This is in large part due to JF being hands off until this point and those people seeing his urgency and fundamentally falling in line in support.

As far as Manny goes. Understand the intentions right now is a complete overhaul of the athletic department. As of this moment there is 0 belief he will be back as he will be a casualty of the changes. And while speaking of the HC. It’s subject to change based on AD. However, the chances of LK coming here are very very slim. He is not a very popular potential choice with those that matter. Biggest issue is not him being a goof at times but instead his inability or unwillingness to stay to long. Outside of any other concerns that is by far the biggest hurdle and a legitimate one at that.
I can already see where this is going. if we don't land Mario we are going to end up with Mark Stoops.

if Lane did leave in 2-3 years that means he had success here. when did we get in the position to pass up 2-3 years of success.

****, I read quotes like this and realize that politics or some political appointment is just not in the cards for me. Not sure how these people do this day in and day out.

Hoya... good cliffs notes...

Think through this (I've seen this far too many times)...

I've said before its all about options to the BoT level...

If Lake's reporting is accurate, I'd speculate the BoT is giving the appearance of staying out of it to "get their cake and eat it too". Why...

1) Frenk, advisors, and new AD make a homerun decision whatever it is (keep Manuela and he restores Miami, fire Manuela and X coach restores Miami)... at the victory parade, BoT can say "we had confidence in Frenk and his decision led us to this day... rah... rah.... rah"

2) Frenk, advisors, and new AD make what proves to be a disasterous decision whatever it is (keep Manuela and he further fails, fire Manuela and X coach fails to restore Miami)... at the coroner's post-mortem press conference, BoT can say "we allowed Frenk to make the call, unfortunately it didn't work out along with several other questionable decisions throughout his tenure, we wish him well in his future endeavours and our thorough national search for his replacement begins immediately. So and so will serve as interim Univ Prez..."

This way, BoT members reduce their exposure to one another in/by taking opposite positions until they know they have a clean kill...

There's no power struggle, but one faction is leaking false information to try to scare away potential coaches and ADs. That's totally normal and not indicative of complete disfunction among the people making this decision.

You clearly don't know what the words "power struggle" mean.

And you certainly don't know how to spell "dysfunction", let alone define it.
