Update - Clarification from David Lake, 247 TODAY

Must admit if all this is true then my opinion of Frenk is changing for the better
Agree 100% it’s really the gist of what we wanted after the Herbie piece. While the “insiders” on this board may not be happy this seems believable. The power struggle thing seemed forced by people who just didn’t know anything but wanted to. Hope this is true and we are headed in the right direction.

Yes I believe it ALL...There are some near power and thus on this board that sneakily want the destruction of Miami football.

POSTING WITH DAVID LAKE'S PERMISSION;

This narrative of a ‘power struggle’ happening at Miami with the AD and potential head coaching search is disingenuous. Where is the power struggle? President Julio Frenk is in power and he and his advisors are making changes.

Miami does not have a AD…no power there. The board of trustees is toothless (the decision to part ways from Blake James was made without their input for a reason)…no power there either.

HERE IS THE NEWS: Frenk and his advisors will hire the AD, which is currently going through a search firm process. The AD and Frenk will then make a decision on Manny Diaz.

President Julio Frenk and his advisors are attacking the status quo and these aggressive changes are making people uncomfortable. Are you all satisfied with the status quo? These type of massive changes need to happen if Miami is going to move forward and have success. The problem is systemic.

Again, people in the Hecht building and on the BoT leaking out that Manny Diaz is on the cusp of returning is disingenuous. Interim AD Jenn Strawley is not a candidate for the AD position. That would be a status quo move and the people making this decision don’t want the status quo.

These narratives are damaging because they characterize Miami as a circus (which it isn’t), but this circus narrative is something that the status quo people want to put out there because it could potentially scare quality AD candidates and scare a potential quality coach. These narratives are a shining example of why a total culture reset is needed.

Don’t fall for it. It needs to stop.

Screenshot this and post it wherever.
Fantastic post and what it’s 100% on. JF has taken the issues head on and has made it clear it’s his show for now. He’s surrounded himself with credible voices and by all accounts has done everything possible to right the wrongs. There is no power struggle. I’ve heard directly from 1 member of the BOT that his urgency and prioritization of the athletic program at this time has changed the overall dynamic and feelings of some of those status quo folks who have had a hand in being where we are now. This is in large part due to JF being hands off until this point and those people seeing his urgency and fundamentally falling in line in support.

As far as Manny goes. Understand the intentions right now is a complete overhaul of the athletic department. As of this moment there is 0 belief he will be back as he will be a casualty of the changes. And while speaking of the HC. It’s subject to change based on AD. However, the chances of LK coming here are very very slim. He is not a very popular potential choice with those that matter. Biggest issue is not him being a goof at times but instead his inability or unwillingness to stay to long. Outside of any other concerns that is by far the biggest hurdle and a legitimate one at that.

A zebra don’t change stripes; they just change how they move to avoid danger.

I’m fine with that if it gets us where we need to be.

He’s doing what he should be doing as the president of the university and saying, “I’ll handle this, your way isn’t working “

Also I may add…. Frenk isn’t on the hot seat, his job is running the university which he is doing a very good job of at the moment. He may have underestimated the amount of revenues that could be brought in when you have winning athletic teams specifically football

This post by Lake violates the Golden Rule: “Those who have the Gold make the Rules.”

The notion that Julio Frenk is acting as some sort of Rebel Without A Clause who is going to go out and select someone that the Board Whales might not want is passing strange. The Board Whales are the ones who are bringing in the Deep Pocket Money to juice the Program (as well as the rest of Athletics). The notion that Fenk would ignore them is borderline laughable.

Which is why he has a team around him to do that for him. Let's not make like every school president in America watches College Gameday each week
I’ll repeat what I’ve said here 1,000 times. The “search firms” are the biggest scam in sports. Imagine paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a “firm” to tell you to hire coach or AD who’s records are public knowledge. If you can’t perform your duties (hiring is part of Frenk’s duties) you shouldn’t have that job.

Is the Jurich/Zo/Mario triumvirate still the leading contender?

I used to absolutely drag Lake when he was making useless recruiting predictions and writing articles that would make Jorkson look plugged in. But his reporting as gotten more serious over the past year. I can't tell if he's got a better source, but there's a difference.

It's the biggest cop out "look, we're trying!" virtue signal that administrations do. So stupid.
