Upcoming playoff expansion vote (12 Team Playoff Chosen, 9.2)

You're using the 9-3 record example as the baseline for your argument when it's really an outlier, completely ignoring my statement about expanding the playoff to 12-16 teams means that you'd see more teams with great records as they jockeyed for playoff position. The likelihood that a 9-3 team would get in is low. The 9-3 statement is one of personal preference. We've already had a 2 loss national champion before, so a 9-3 team that goes on a crazy playoff run would be fine with me, they'd also would be talked about for years to come. Also, with 20-24 team super conferences on the way and the big boys getting rid of ooc cupcakes, 9-3 teams getting into the playoffs and winning a title will become the norm sooner rather than later. Spare me some faux purist argument about how it would "water down the meaning/significance of a championship." There's no more purism in college football. It's **** near WWE level at this point.
Where are you getting this nonsense from? When was the last time 9-3 won the SEC or B1G? And do you think adding teams to either of those conferences is going to make bama/UGA/OSU into 9-3 teams? Make those conferences as big as you want, and most years somebody will still get through the season with 0-2 losses

Again, focusing on the wrong thing. You're using the 9-3 argument as the baseline, when it's not. I merely said that a 9-3 team making the playoff and winning would be fine by me.

I disagree to your last point. Adding more big name teams to these conferences increases the chances for multiple losses. It's easier for Bama to go 12-0 now when 3 of your 4 ooc games are usually cupcake games. Reduce those games and add an extra conference game, the chances for multiple losses increases. It's going to be a reality before you know it.

The concern about playing too many games with an expanded CFP is legit and I think needs to get addressed in a serious way before this happens, which likely puts it into 2026 is my guess. Getting rid of the conference championships sounds good to me, but should be coupled with some rule changes to make the games a bit faster, and actual player financial comp. /hottake

SOFT.

We need 30-35 game seasons.

If # of games is a point of emphasis, they can easily drop 3, and keep the conference title games so that the regular season is 10 games.

1 non-conference game and 8 conference games.....or 2 non-conference games and 7 conference games.

Either way, it can be done and the team crowned Champ can still be done in less than 15 which is what it could take now if a team goes 12-0 reg season, 1 conference title game, and 2 CFP games if they win it all.

That's a 16 team playoff model right there with a champion crowned in 14 games. And I did it in all of 3 minutes.
It isn't rocket surgery. It's not as complicated as they make it. Their problem is trying to squeeze every dime they can out of it first, then look at logical solutions last.

I always challenge anyone who is in favor of expansion to go back over the years and tell me which teams ranked 5-12 needed to be in the playoffs.
I think 5-6 would have been ok to add in certain years. Definitely no more than that.

If they don’t put games on higher seeded campuses then this is even more soulless than I gave them credit for. It’s the most natural win in the history of things expanding.

No one wants to see that. Once my team is eliminated, I sorta zone out after a week or two. After a month, I just wouldn't care.
It's not going there, but there's always a constant urge to expand playoffs further. The sport used to be unique because early season games really ******* mattered, everyone seems to want to trade the entire regular season for a few weeks at the end. So much has changed at this point I dont even really give a **** anymore though. Just win

Garbage. It’s all about money, justifiably so, but I like it the way it is. College football regular season is the best and it’s going to get ruined by expansion

This is about money, not a need to satisfy ‘snubbed’ teams and their championship aspirations.
Of course I know that. The question is geared towards the average fan in favor of expansion.
