Am I getting trolled?
Nope
Am I getting trolled?
Am I getting trolled?
Yes, because there will be for the ones that are good enough because far worse people have been picked up doing far less bad things than opting out to keep their red shirt in the history of college football. Not everybody is altruistic.do these players think they'll have a market in the offseason after pulling this? even if there's a legitimate reason - staying and balling out in hopes of making the league is way better than the scraps they'll be left with now that they've quit on their programs
Plenty of teams will be desperate enough to throw some NIL to a QB1 or DT even with questionable history. So yes.do these players think they'll have a market in the offseason after pulling this? even if there's a legitimate reason - staying and balling out in hopes of making the league is way better than the scraps they'll be left with now that they've quit on their programs
If reform means blowing up the NCAA, then we’re speaking the same language. I just don’t want half-measures where the NCAA controls enforcement.
There is a better model out there, but the current system is way better than the last one.
I agreed w/ u until u said the current model is better than the last. So let’s say Cam says today “U know what Miami, the NFL have seen enough game film of me that I’m going to sit out the remainder of our games unless u up my NIL which is more today than we agreed upon”, u good w/ that system?
The problem w/ extremist views is that it negates whatever message u’re trying to send. Some were vehemently against NIL (wanting the old guard), while others like myself were in favor w/ NIL, but wanted guidelines so it doesn’t become a pandora box filled w/ slippery slopes.
The extremist are like, “fck it, baybay! Down w/ the man, let’s get everyone paid. Let the boosters control the market, yee haw” & they pop their guns in the air screaming Amistad. Until they r now realizing those bullets r making their way back down furiously b/c NO ONE THOUGHT THIS THROUGH INCLUDING THE LEGAL SYSTEM.
Again, this **** show is not happening at the NFL. The entire system is broken, & eventually it will turn off fans just like the NBA have turned off fans w/ their “load management” for guys making $60m/yr, and the lack of competition. So yes, the NCAA needs to be limited in their oversight, which I believe should be academics, only, at the FBS level, but FBS need real structure including:
-Shared revenue (w/ a cap)
-Scholarship language change (more in line of a contract)
-Portal revisions
-NIL from commercial deals independent of any collectives associated or a quasi representative of a School, & if collectives do offer NIL, negations happen ONLY after a student enrolls
-Fines for tampering to entice transfers/portal entries including reduction of scholarships, and/or bowl eligibility
-A commissioner in place either as an individual or a collective body to oversee FBS, collectively
-Reduce FBS teams, and place teams in regional quads
-Academic requirements still determines eligibility
The NCAA can handle FCS, DII, NCAAB, WCBB, College Baseball & all its awards Nat’l Championships the way it wants, but FBS need change, IMMEDIATELY.
In the last system, players got paid crumbs under the table and the NCAA was allowed to selectively enforce with blatant favoritism. This system, with players getting paid real money and the NCAA rendered toothless, is a monster improvement. When you say we should have had "guidelines for NIL," that means NCAA enforcement unless the system is completely blown up.I agreed w/ u until u said the current model is better than the last. Quick note: I believe one of the Bosa brothers sat out the season even after being healed from an injury, also JSN too. Depends on whether you believe the rumors or not. Those are the only 2 instances I can think of that happening. In the last system, players got paid crumbs under the table and the NCAA was allowed to selectively enforce with blatant favoritism. Your hypothetical hasn't happened yet, and it would be too damaging to Cam's NFL stock for him to consider. A player could have done the same thing under the old system (i.e. said he had enough film and shut it down for the draft) but it never happened aside from extreme situations like COVID.
All of the changes you suggest (which I agree with) could only happen if the system was completely blown up. At that point, you just follow the NFL model with loose affiliation to schools. I think that eventually happens. But in the interim, we need the NCAA to continue to get embarrassed in courts until it goes bankrupt.

Can schools also pay for career ending insurance policies?
Seems like a little bit of security for players that may have a shot at the NFL.
I know it would be complex to figure out values but certainly not impossible.

If Cam did that, which he wouldn't, I would lose respect for him as a leader and a player. But would that situation make me say, "We should go back to NCAA enforcement and players getting paid illegal crumbs?" Of course not.I asked “if” that happened, u’re good w/ it? Lol. It’s called a hypothetical for a reason. U’ve been championing this new outlaw system we have for a while, & we’re starting to see cracks in it, just like California saw what happens when u just u don’t have many laws discouraging certain behaviors in the 1800’s, & now in 2024.
Regardless, I asked u a pointed ? in which u tried to skate by; so again, IF Cam Ward pulled the same stunt since u’re in favor of this new system, r u good w/ it? Yes or no.
There’s a reason why it’s called a written contract! It stands alone it don’t need no words spoken!View attachment 304568
insane to do this right now but it’s the world we live in now.
