Coley, Chickillo, Kirby, Howard, Wyche, to name a few. To take the next step players cannot continue to hit a wall. The above players this year sometimes need to make one crucial play in a game, they have been non existent in games. I see to many times players in key spots in the game not making plays or having a negative effect by fumbling in key situations. You cannot sugar coat Duke fumbling problems more than once this year, Chickillo is terrible will not get drafted, Howard is a houdini disappearing act, Wyche came in overweight, Kirby cannot get off a block. BERRIOS TRUE FROSH MADE A KEY BLUNDER AGAINST FSU. All of this adds to losses, I m sorry but there is only so much coaches can teach. Players have to make plays a la Walford n Perryman.

Wrong. Coach is the common denominator. Some players are great just because they are--regardless of coaching. Most need coaching. You are taking a page out of Golden failed book to defend him--throw the players under the bus. We regularly get beat by coaches getting the most out of less talented players. Al and his plan are negatives on our players. Great coaches fit scheme to talent. Sorry *** coaches try to force players into their scheme. Which one does Al fall into?

I'm not of the mindset that you ALWAYS absolve the kids of responsibilty. That said, the corching has put them all in wayyyyyyy too many situations where one blunder seemingly turned a game. Hey how about providing decent enough coaching where they freakin' sometimes had a margin of error in games against teams like GT? Good corching has NEVER been able to mask random player *****-ups but I 'm sure the reverse has taken place more than once.

Some of those players will be studs in the NFL... when they receive real coaching.

Listen I'm positive that there have been under-performing players but with the mess we have at the top right now it's just really hard to even go down and make ANY sort of evaluation of any under-performing player. I have my own personal suspicions about guys but I no longer feel like you can ignore the fact that this coaching staff just ain't cutting it in the end. There are ABSOLUTELY better options out there to lead this team....

Laying blame on the players for our five losses while absolving Golden is far worse than flying a banner.

Coley hasn't been right since he hurt his shoulder in the first game. He had a terrific freshman year. Chick is a grinder and a tweener. He's been a good player for us over 4 years. Wyche needed to redshirt. I think Kirby will have a very solid senior season. Howard lack of speed is his liability. He's still very solid in zone coverage. As for Berrios, how was that a blunder? It was an extremely tough catch.

Besides the coaching staff, Kaaya is the main underperfomer... his 2nd half phobia has cost us games

You have a coaching staff where their philosophy leaves basically no margin for error. Even games when you win the turnover battle are dog fights.

To all the naysayers, Uncle Luke, and the bandwagon fans this U is in a better position now than 3 yrs ago. We have a 9 win season, a top 5 recruiting class, and a bright future. Yes, our defense is below par but we are not to far away. Give Golden 2 more yrs, same results he must go. By 2015 at a minimum we must win ACC championship. Why 2 yrs, he will have a Senior-Junior team with 2 deep in every position, no excuses. Go CANES!!!!!
.

Every year since Al Golden took over this train wreck we have improved on and off the field. No more NCAA sanctions, more wins every year, n better recruiting class. Still many of the basement mental midgets here complain. We r not going to play for or win the NC every year, those days are over. I expect plus 9 wins a year n maybe more depending on how we project every year. Oh by the way, alum 1988.

This is all you need to know about OP.

Do players make mistakes? Absolutely, all of the time. But like you said, when trends exist...

The irony in this thread is that OP is possibly one of the dullest posters on this website, yet has called others out for being "mental midgets"

Regarding your point, I think you overscore Chick's impact on games. Yes, he's a tweener and he was never meant to be a bulked up guy. He's a reserve guy who unfortunately, has been put in tough positions over the course of the last several years. I love 3G but he is what he is - an average player.

As for Coley, I'm sure he did bang up his shoulder but that shoulder should be fine for now, or at least much better. His part is mental.

Beg to differ. Looks like miley cyrus in pads.

I have to agree with him on this. Yes Golden is a bad coach when it comes to big games and he puts our players at risk for his consertive ways but all those guys had chances to make critical plays and did not through out the year. I say only because i see where there has been improvements to different players throughout the year. Grace,Warlord,Yearby,Gunter just to name of few of guys who improved alot from last year. Coley regressed in a way that doesnt even make sense. Chick is all AL fault, he could have been a beast but he cannot play at that weight but i will remeber chick for the DT that almost had a sack but cant wrap up.Kirby has improved through this season but he is still average to me, Howard just lost all confidence i believe in himself and his technique and everything went down the drain, wyche is a huge disappointment. he cant even move. ironically though he will be great in the NFL because they like run stuffer like him but in a spread college system its hard for that type of guy. but ill give wyche another year.
