UNC says it was coaching

Blown off the ball as in our LBs were swallowed up, as in inside, outside, holes were wide open. As I said, our DEs, particularly Phillips washed himself out the play many time, but let’s not act like UNC didn’t get second level a lot.
They get to the 2nd level because our DL play is atrocious and undisciplined.

All UNC ran was COUNTER and ZONE. All. Freakin. Day.

Defending counter is about lining up properly and playing disciplined, assignment football. There's nothing complicated about what UNC was doing. STA and Columbus basically run the same **** offense, for crying out loud. Actually a lot of high school are utilizing this offense.
11 personnel with a TE/H-Back who adds an extra gap in the run game and can block across the formation for concepts like Split Zone, Power and Counter.

YOU CAN'T STOP THIS OFFENSE BY HAVING YOUR DE's RUN UP-FIELD!!! (which is what our DE's were doing the entire first half)
That's on coaching.
We lined up in a our regular ****, like we do every week, and didn't change our strategy AT ALL!
It's like we never prepared for any of UNC's run concepts.

Totally embarrassing.

It's one thing to have guys miss tackles and stuff like that, but often times there wasn't even a defender anywhere near the ball carrier for the first 8+ yards.

It goes back to everything I've been saying about the defense since day one.
And the slurpers always respond with "but we only gave up 19 points blah blah blah."
But I've always harped on THE STUFF THAT'S AVOIDABLE. Avoidable plays/scores/situations have showed themselves ALL SEASON, even in games that we won handily. And I said, these things will be magnified when we play a better opponent.
And what did we see when we played Clemson and UNC? MAGNIFICATION gotdamnit!

typically adjustments are made in the second half if the game plan is not panning out in the first.. It appeared none were made and they just kept doing more of the same. That just seems odd to me because we have usually been able to make decent second half adjustments on defense. Something just doesn't seem right.
Yes. Its the cheapazz incompetent coaches that this administration always hires. Hiring this clown because he was a mayor's son tells you everything you need to know about this AD and BOT. Always cutting corners. I wish. this bunch would just forget the bowl game. Enough of this incompetent, numbskull BS

They ran the 2019-2020 north shore offense against us 😂 I can’t remember Howell having to make one read

Totally agree.........I looked all night for adjustments in the second half.......there were none in sight....Unbelievable.

Manny Baker & Blake Diaz are doing the best that they can.

He is burning the midnight oil. He prays often. He gives to charity. He's really really trying hard.

Firing Baker won't do us any good IF Manny forces the new DC to use his outdated scheme

Sorry with that being the case, we're just expecting from them something that they just aren't capable of delivering

"Everything to click" on Knowles is pushing it too...He went from horrid to just bad.

I don't think Banda is a good coach at all...I was full on the fire Banda train, then he landed Williams, Kinchens, Williams...Kinda hard to argue with his recruiting.
I sort of agree, but I still think Ed Reed is a factor in getting these great safeties this year. But Banda has been a pretty good recruiter, don’t like his coaching though, or Rumph and can not recruit at all.

A few days before the game I said we have to STONEWALL their Oline.

Say wtf you want, but watching every defensive line player get washed out of the play made miss Al Golden's two gap.

There becomes a point when the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Can we not run a 2-gap/upfield type of style?

Run 2 gap on 1st and 2nd. Big Brain time...
Clemson plays an attacking 4-2-5 but there's two differences. They play alot of bump n run and the dline stays in there gaps. Watch what they did in the 2nd game against nd. They stayed in their gaps and book had to scramble around behind the los waiting for someone to get open. That's what we need
