Our students don't care that much. That is the real problem. It honestly angers me.
Not going to be politically correct but I'd venture to say our current student body cares more about issues in China, South America and portions of Europe than collegiate athletics. It's moot though as student attendance really only matters in basketball for us. And even that's freakin' sad as I've been to games at The BUC against teams like Carolina and have students outside ask me what's going on in there.
Are you saying students a Miami are more academically interested than students at Michigan, which is a significantly more prestigious university? LoL no chance. This idea that Miami is on some elite academic level needs to be squashed; we are a middle of the road school akin to aTm and Clemson.
Has nothing to do with academics (but please don't ever compare us to Clemson) but to a much much much smaller student body that has become increasingly more "worldly". Just talking demographics and actual size here. Again, all moot when it comes to football attendance as if we're relying on them to account for real attendance numbers then we've already lost the battle.
Miami has 15% international students. USC who fired their coach halfway thru last year has 12%. Michigan State, an elite program right now using our scheme on defense, has 12%. Washington who hired a coach we'd all cream for has 11%. Michigan and OSU have 7%.
So you are saying the reason Miami football fans cant get an AD or coach fired compared to Michigan is b/c we have 8 percentage points more international students? What exactly is in those 3 percentage points over USC that makes us so apathetic, and them so willing to **** can Lame Kiffin at the airport? Please tell us. SMFH.
