Absolutely true but those likes also mesh with the non-Chinese portion of my original statement. Nonetheless, I don't even blame kids that aren't football fans for not caring. Those kids used to actually show at the OB for a number of games because it was an event in an event town. Hard to sell a kid from Italy or Brazil on why he needs to come a nooner in Miami Gardens for a sport he probably doesn't even fully understand. Our fanbase will always derive its real strength in numbers from non-alumni locals so that in itself kinda limits the actual influence we (as fans as a whole) have with the administration (incorrectly so).

Showers what it means is , Miami has a student base that is largely pulled from Latin America and the Northeast while the kids in the northeast may like football they are very academically inclined and it clearly plays second third on their college experience. Secondly, having graduated from Miami I can tell you that the football team success or failure doesn't influence students the way it does other campuses. Miami academically is a lot like Boston college and tulane in terms of profile.

One easy route Donna has taken in the efforts to jump that all important academic rating is to bring in wayyyyyy more foreign students. Nothing wrong with that at all but don't claim that doesn't influence support and interest in athletics. But again, it's irrelevant outside of these kids not showing up to basketball games on-campus.

Having a few famous people throw up the U is great and all but they're not dropping millions every year to better the program. Expectations for their athletic department are, unfortunately, a lot higher than ours.

I don't know what the admin's mindset is regarding athletics. However, it seems pretty stagnant and slow moving from all intents and purposes. Miami definitely has donors, but it doesn't seem like those donors are throwing their big donations towards the athletics programs. Stephen Ross gave Michigan Athletics $100mill alone last year. Can you recall seeing someone throw money to Miami athletics like that? And no, $1M to Miami doesn't have the same affect as $100m to Michigan. I hear what you're saying, bro....seriously you make facinating points and I in no shape or form tried to imply to that Miami and Michigan are equivalent to one another in alumni base or student body. My point is that when these guys became fed up, they took it upon themselves to make sure the Admin knew there were going to be consequences. My point is that in order for change to be made, the Admin must feel that there are consequences that will be had if things do not change. That can only be done by protest and monies being held.

I go to school at UM right now. The students care most about getting high gpas, work expierence, and partying. Or some combo of the three. The foreign students that go here came here to party. Outside 20 schools, hard to find a majority of the student body who are well informed about current issues in the US and the qorld
