UM offers 2022 LB Devon Jackson

Cane! No way he comes this weekend and not blown out of the water. Especially when you consider how close the legends will be to him. I’m calling it now. Cane. Easily. I don’t even wanna think about a possible vicious 6’2 235 OLB running a 4.4 in our defense. Nah I’m not gonna imagine it right now.

Early on in this thread, despite the insane speed, most posters were lukewarm on Jackson's LB skills, highlights and toughness. Has something changed since then? Cause no is mentioning them anymore.

But given the schools recruiting him, maybe those concerns were overblown?

People are still infatuated with the straight line speed. Talented kid, obviously but the film is definitely underwhelming. Take all day and bet on the God given talent but a long way to go before making an impact IMO. I like Tolan much more.

I like the fact that he will be on campus during Paradise camp...the legends that will be there can convince him that Miami is family

I spoke with Omaha (Neb.) Burke Top247 linebacker Devon Jackson for a while on Monday night and he confirmed that he will choose between Miami and Arizona State in the weeks following his official visit to UM this weekend.

At this stage, I do feel like Arizona State is the team to beat, though the ‘backer insisted like the two schools were even in his recruitment. He is not turned off by the potential sanctions that the coaching staff over there may be facing and he believes that nobody in Tempe will lose their jobs. If that remains true, I think the Sun Devils are going to be tough to beat.

With that being said, Jackson made it known that he is seriously considering Miami and truly wants to take in everything the program has to offer this coming weekend. He was not aware that Miami’s Paradise Camp is this weekend, but now he’s looking forward to potentially meeting some UM greats on Saturday and taking in the entire camp setting.

While on his official visit, Jackson, who Miami views as a WILL or potential striker, is going to be looking into every detail of the life of a University of Miami student-athlete and evaluating and comparing that to what he saw at Arizona State this past weekend before going back home and making a decision in just a few weeks.

Another interesting note, Jackson and Miami tight end target Kaden Helms talked about Miami coming off of Helms’ official visit. It sounded like Helms had nothing but positive things to say to the linebacker about Miami, saying that there is nothing like it.

Arizona State is also in the picture for Helms, but the Sun Devils don’t have a quarterback in the class this cycle after missing on recent West Virginia commit Nicco Marchiol and that could keep the tight end looking elsewhere with UM and Oklahoma involved, along with North Carolina and Auburn.

There is a chance the two pick the same school, which would be either Miami or ASU if that were to be the case, but they’re also creeping towards the understanding that they each play two very different positions which could have two different circumstances at any given school, so ultimately they’re going to do what’s best for them.

I’m not ready to log a 247Sports Crystal Ball in favor of Arizona State because of the uncertainty around the program, but I do believe that Herm Edwards & Co. are in the driver's seat and that Miami would have to blow Jackson away in order to get him on the boat.

Due to the potential penalties the staff over there are facing, I think it gives Miami a bit more room to make a move, so this weekend could be big.
The same thing i said about Bear remains true here tht even if you don't get a kid to commit have him speak do highly about the program that other recruits end up wanting to come here. Now Herm Edwards will not be in ASU when he can get a job back at ESPN via Zoom where he can stay stress free with his family instead of in a dumpster fire he helped cause so they don't scare me anymore

Love that Miami is going for out of state kids. Unless your the cream of the crop in South Florida we should recruit kids out of state or central and north Florida instead of the kids down here. Manny and the staff are starting to understand the kids down here are a bit to toxic. Truth be told, football down here is terrible, most of the coaches suck, the kids are treated like superstars and babied. Love we’re going after some Georgia kids. Those boys are built different. Jordan Allen is big time, Nick Cull plays mean. I love it, and Devon Jackson is a beast, Chase Smith comp.

Jackson could commit to ASU in a couple weeks. Doesn't mean he signs there. Long way to mid December and I don't think that staff is there on signing day.

I think this is the correct take. He commits to ASU because he has a good relationship with Herm and Pierce, then flips to Miami after Herm gets canned (NCAA is out for blood and wants to show it's still in control after getting its *** handed to it by the Supreme Court). Staff needs to stay on him.
