UM Named as being Among Schools with $40M in NIL spend

Its not the amount being spent that's insane to me, its the fact that if its true that this is what a 40+ million roster gets us.. & we're here clamoring for top portal players to be brought in which wont be cheap either lol...wasn't the rumored cost of OSU's National Champion roster 20 million? and we're here paying double that @ 40 million or close to it for a roster that still needs top talent to be seen as ACC championship worthy?

Beck is at $4M and we can now take more than 85 scholarship players.

$36M divided by 90 is $400K.
 
If every college player went into the portal who commands the highest asking price? Arch, then Jeremiah?

Well, let's see what this season brings. If Beck returns to form, we should be fairly competitive. This roster top to bottom IMO is better than last year even though 1 ain't here.

$20M was probably the highest paid roster last year. Or top 3. This year the highest paid roster will be substantially higher. The market price for players is still increasing substantially every year, and will continue to until it finds some sort of equilibrium. So whatever we are spending this year might be enough to be last years highest paid roster, but for this year it’s probably in the top 10ish range. With that said I do agree that we better see a return on investment here soon.

Paying 40 million to be fairly competitive is where the problem lies for me smh, but your'e right i guess we'll how well that investment pans out this fall.

I guess I was way off on the cost of fielding a Above average/good roster (which i believe we are at the current moment) 40 million dollars in my eyes should field a sure-fire playoff type roster (dont think were there as of yet) but i guess im oblivious to the current Nil market prices. What $ range would you say elite rosters lie today( Top 1-3)??

We are very near the top.

Barring injuries, we will have enough talent to win the ACC.

And then the playoffs will depend on matchups.

People have forgotten the old days, when our "defending national champion" teams couldn't win the title, yet the "up-and-coming" teams that featured a batch of "unproven" guys won us 5 rings.
