It sounds high, but 85 roster players at $500k apiece is $42 million.
$500k a piece is likely closer to 5x what the baseline player is making I’d bet. And again QBs are likely $3M on the high end I’d estimate. $4M at max probably. Top WRs, DTs likely aren’t making more than $1.5M.

vet min in nfl is barely above $1M. The last pick in the draft has a salary that’s like $1M/yr. And that guarantees the teams the players rights for 4 yrs.
And an nfl teams revenues are far higher than a top CFB programs are. Like by a factor of at least 5, probably 10 or more.

I don’t necessarily disagree. If I had to guess, I think it’s likely less than $40 million. That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if it was near $40 million. There are guys likely below the $500k figure I used, but then you got folks likely well above that like Beck, and lots of WR, RB, OL that we got in sweepstakes battles against other schools so who knows.

It's disappointing to see that a lot of folks who project extreme self-confidence are also some of the whiniest ******* out there. Lane Kiffin, Curt Cignetti, etc. And then Dan Lanning feels compelled to share his personal cope that the Rose bowl "wasn't Oregon's day, just like the Michigan game wasn't Ohio State's day". I wish that some of these tough guys would just act like men. We need more badasses that let their actions do the talking for them.

$40 million seems like a lot if we're to believe the tight budget narrative that always gets brought up for why we can't go after more high profile Portal players.

$40mill sounds like what Oregon, Texas. OH ST & UGA spends.

If Miami is spending $40mill on this roster, somebody needs to take a finances class.
Definitely more in the team of the Quackers and the Taint.

Oh my how far CFB has fallen, agents and brokers run CFB .

Disband the NCAA they made all of this !

Boy tickets , concession , parking and incedentals to explode .

The implosion in on the way , CFB is consumed with fraud yet to be uncovered.

spending 40 million on this current roster would be CRAZY work lol
Let's play numbers.

If Beck is at $3 million (reasonable estimate), $37 M divided by 84 scholarship players brings the average to $440,476. I'm sure plenty of players are below that amount but think of what we paid to: Mauigoa, Samson . . . those were big battles. Even RB and WR. Those were all contested recruitments. Lyle andFletch had a lot of offers. I assume Jojo demanded some cash. Same for Bain.

I really have no idea what these NIL deals look like and I'd still guess its less than $40 M but $40 million isn't entirely insane either.
