UM (Michigan) in big trouble ?

I waited to comment on this but if u think this is nothing or some agenda, people like @Coach Macho and others can tell u the advantage an opponent has if they know your signals. Its huge. So if Michigan broke the rules to get em. They need to be bammed. This is not buying kids gifts or practicing too much. It throws off the integrity of the game. Funny when they caught Clemson their results took a nose dive as well.
i dont think clemson ever got "caught"

i think vennables just left (was mainly used on D) and they lost trevor lawrence + etienne all around the same time

The more evidence I see the more I’m blown away how careless and brazen they were. I mean did they write the reason for traveling was to go steal signals from a rival football team ?

These guys are absolute idiots.
Mike Farrell is suggesting a former Michigan coach turned them in. Dare I say…

Everyone steals signals. You can't do it in this manner but everyone does it.

Do I think Michigan will get punished for it? Not really.

They got called out for it and they started nose diving when he was there immediately after they got called out. They were caught, just not punished.

There is "stealing signals" ... by watching game film, looking for tendencies, watching what is available on film showing communications. THEN there is a budgeted spying activity formalized within an athletic staff ... that sends multiple scouts to opponents games ... seats on the 50 yard line on both sides of the field ... and FILMS the entire game focusing on the sideline where signals are being sent to the QB and also the D. "Spy film" downloaded onto computers back at the athletic center office and gone over, reviewed, notes taken, and SUMMARY SHEETS with signals and corresponding plays prepared to educate staff. Over the top, unwarranted, illegal, "unfair", not permitted, strong penalties warranted.

Uhhhh...if the team stealing signals has the CORRECT signals, then all the dummy signals in the world will not change things.

The only "possible" solution would be to use 12 different sets of signals for 12 different games. Or maybe 24 sets of signals for 24 different halves.

The bottom line is that you can address the problem in two ways. Yes, teams can improve their countermeasures. And, yes, the NCAA (and conferences) can toughen the penalties and enforcement.

I agree with you on the money thing, but I'd also say that college athletes have not been paid fairly for over 100 years. But the military-op sign-stealing is only a recent development. We can write rules to address the sign-stealing.
Or you can just go back to huddling...

Honestly, give the QBs an helmet earpieces like the NFL

Do u know how much time it takes to teach the whole team the signals. Do u know how coverage busts happen, or WRs running the wrong route?
I actually don’t. But I still would like to know why it’s such an egregious violation? If you’re scouting a team and pick up on their signals isn’t that in them. I’m really not trying to troll I’m seriously asking.

Its very difficult and time consuming with the time limits and all to teach your team new signals mid season or game week. Teams are always trying to steal signals. They banned the way Michigan is accused of doing it for a reason. Other teams likely do similar but if u get caught, u should be bammed

I saw a video today where the guy appears to be on the Michigan siding with a stack of papers. Be sees the Ohio state play signal looks at the papers and immediately signals the defense on ghe field or at least the coach.
